I’m staying at . . .” It took her a moment to remember before she came to the Kilderbrands’ address. “It’s the building across from me. Ah, to the, to the west of me. I think. I’m sorry, I can’t think. She’s dead. She has to be dead.”
“I’m dispatching a unit now. Will you hold the line?”
“Yes. Yes. I’ll stay here.”
Shuddering, she looked out again, but now the room beyond the broken window was dark.
