Kissing the Dr (Healing Love)

He doesn’t want to lose me. “Nope. Can’t get rid of me that easily.”
“So what happened?” Jen stood at the foot of the bed, one arm wrapped around Bob.
“I passed out. Apparently it’s not uncommon for pregnant women.” Silence fell around the room and I felt like a jerk, blurting it out like that. “Sorry. I should have figured out a better way to say that, but I just got the news myself and the shock hasn’t worn off.”
“Pregnant,” Casey whispered, the sound low and gravelly. “We’re pregnant?”
“No. I’m pregnant, but we’re having a baby. Are you okay with that?” I swallowed hard and waited for his expression to change, for him to say something.
He stared at me for a long time, the smile that spread across his face came even slower. “Okay? I’m more than okay with it, babe, I’m thrilled.” Casey scooped me in his arms and hugged me tight before he laid the mother of all kisses on me, right there in my hospital bed, in front of his mom and dad. “We’re having a baby.”
“We are,” I repeated around a big toothy grin.
He pulled back and cupped my face, love shining in his eyes. “Holy shit, we’re having a baby, Megs.”
“Right?” It wasn’t the response I expected, but that only made it even better. Casey was happy about the baby. I was happy about us. “I love you, Casey.”
This smile was even bigger, ten times as bright as the last one. “Love you too, Megs. Always.”
Casey
“Oh my goodness, it’s so great to be home!” Megan’s smile was so wide and so bright, so gorgeous I couldn’t look away. “I appreciate all the work of your colleagues, but man is it good to be home.”
Dizziness and nausea had kept Megan in the hospital for an extra day of hospital food and hourly check-ins by the nursing staff, and it kept me on edge for an additional twenty-four hours. “It’s good to have you home, babe.”
She looked up at me with a dreamy expression on her face, and sighed. “Casey.”
“Megan,” I growled. I felt my blood heat up when she licked her lips, and my cock stirred at the fluttering pulse at the base of her neck. In a hot second, I was on her, body pressed up against hers from top to bottom. “Did you mean it, Megan?”
Her full lips spread into a playful grin. “Did I mean what?”
“Do you love me, Megan? Do you really and truly love me, still love me, or do you just think you should?”
She let out a sigh and ran her fingers through my hair, gently as her fingertips dug into my scalp until I moaned. “I should love you because you’re my husband, Casey. I mean, that’s how this goes. Right?”
I nodded, feeling a pit form deep in my gut.
“But I do love you. I fell in love with you all over again, even when you were being a dick, I felt myself falling for you. It snuck up on me, actually.”
I let out a half-laugh. “So you didn’t want to fall in love with me?”
Megan shook her head. “Nope. The last thing I wanted was to fall in love with a man who was waiting for me to turn back into another woman at any moment. But you showed me who you were, time and time again and it turns out that no matter who I am, apparently, I am destined to love you, Casey.”
My heart dropped and then leapt at her words. Her heartfelt words told me that we were on the right track. “That’s damn good Megs, because you’re mine. Forever and always. I’m never letting you go.”
She rolled her eyes. “I know that should sound romantic, but it’s kind of creepy. I like it anyway.” Her smile was wide and bright, her lips trembled with laughter. “And I don’t want to be let go.”
She gasped when a knock sounded at the door. “Why so jumpy?”
Her head fell against the door with a thud and Megan laughed. “Good question.”
“It’s probably dinner.”
Her green eyes widened. “Good. I’m starved.”
“Me too,” I growled.
“For food,” she clarified and laid one hand over my chest. “I’m hungry for food. Now later, I can guarantee I’ll be hungry for something else.” She moaned when I pressed my hips against hers and hit her head on the door again. “Dammit, you’re so good at getting me hot and bothered.”
“Yeah?”
She nodded. “It’s a good thing I’m already pregnant since you can’t get me more pregnant.” Megan wiggled her eyebrows and laughed when the knock sounded again. “Feed your pregnant wife, Dr. Jackson. Or else.” She gave me a gentle shove and stepped away from the door.
I took the food and handed the delivery kid a solid tip that would make sure he was always careful with our deliveries. “Food’s here, Megs!”
