Steamroller - Page 15

“Finally,” he husked, leaning forward, pressing his hand on the mirror beside my head.

“Let me out,” was all I could think of to say.

“In a minute,” he murmured, his eyes on my mouth.

“You were pissed at me.” I almost stuttered, because he smelled like sweat and musk, leather and pine, and the urge to trail my tongue up the long line of his throat was nearly overwhelming.

“I wasn’t.”

“The hell you weren’t,” I countered and heard my breath catch. I was so nervous.

“No, I really wasn’t. I could have gotten what I wanted if I showed you who I was.”

He was right. I would have caved and stayed late, and so would any of the people who worked with me.

“Right?”

I nodded.

His eyes searched mine. “So you owe me, right?”

Whenever Phil got close to me, I turned into a shivering, panting puddle of goo. This was so much worse. I couldn’t even breathe. The guys I lusted after or hit on, like Phil, were mortal, just as I was. In no realm of my imagination had I ever thought to be in a fitting room with Carson Cress. Up close there was no imperfection at all. He was flawless. His golden skin, the deep dimples that popped when he smiled, the clean-shaven square jaw and long, straight nose could have epic poems written about them. The high cheekbones, thick gold lashes, perfectly shaped brows, and his blue-violet eyes that were almost a deep lavender with flecks of indigo… were just overkill.

He was utterly gorgeous.

“You owe me, right, Vince?”

I was supposed to talk? Words were unnecessary when the laugh lines crinkled in the corners of his eyes, when his full lips parted to reveal perfectly even white teeth.

“There’s a party tonight at my frat,” he told me, hand lifting to my cheek, tilting my head up, his thumb sliding across my quivering bottom lip. “Everybody’s gonna be there.”

I made some kind of noise so he’d know I was listening to him.

“You be there too, okay? Bring your friends.”

“Why?” I asked breathlessly.

“So we can talk.”

“About?”

“I’ve seen you out with different guys.”

“Me?” I barely got out. “You’ve seen me?”

He nodded, and I realized I had all his attention.

“When?”

“You were at that party at Blackwater where all the performance artists were.”

He was right, I had been. “I didn’t see you.”

Quick shrug from him. “Yeah, but you weren’t looking for me.”

“No.”

“Yeah, see, I was.”

“You were what?”

“Looking for you.”

I narrowed my eyes as I stared at him. “Why?”

“You’re gay.”

“We covered that already.”

“Yeah, so.” He took a breath. “I wanna know.”

That fast, things became clear. “Well, I’m not an experiment.”

“I didn’t say you were.”

“What else could it be?” I asked angrily.

“Why’re you pissed?”

“Why do you think?” I clipped my words.

“Did you ever think that maybe it’s about me and not you, so being mad is stupid?”

Huh? “How do you mean?”

“Could be I just like you.”

“Is this a joke?”

He shook his head just barely, and I realized then that he was trembling ever so slightly.

“You’re scared,” I said, because at that moment I finally got it, what he had been trying to say, and I was suddenly just as curious as he was.

“Not scared, not exactly,” he whispered, but he swallowed hard and licked his lips like he was lying.

“So what do you want?”

He took a breath. “Lemme kiss you.”

“Or I can kiss you,” I teased, smiling slowly. I’d wait to see what he’d do.

The nodding was adorable and made the man irresistible.

“Come here,” I said, low and sexy, fisting my hand in his T-shirt, pulling him down as he bent and slanted his mouth over mine. It was not a gentle kiss; I opened his mouth, shoved my tongue inside, tasted and explored and took what I wanted. There was no doubt in my mind that I had one shot at kissing the god in my arms. He would bolt as soon as his curiosity was sated, but in the few moments I had, I would make a secret memory I would keep forever.

He tasted good, he smelled better, and the heat rolling off him made my stomach flutter. It was a fantasy come to life, and even though I tried not to, my body reacted, going boneless and soft, pliant, ready for more as I moaned low in the back of my throat.

“God,” he groaned when he broke contact. “That noise you just made….”

He looked drunk, and I realized that the man was at my mercy. “I’m gonna kiss you again.”

“Yeah… yeah… okay.” He sounded drugged, and I knew it was because of me. I had to get my hands on him, be all over him.

We knew what we were doing the second time. He pinned me to the wall, held me in place with his weight, and the pressure of his big, hard body against mine made my cock swell painfully fast. The kiss was slow and sensual, intimate and building, our lips inseparable.
