Out in Winter (Out in College 8) - Page 8

“That sucks.”

“Not really. He did me a favor. The problem is that I haven’t had a reason to come out, so I’ve been in a limbo state. Sort of like when you see an OPEN sign on a shop, but the windows are dark and when you try to turn the knob, it’s locked. You get the feeling the owner doesn’t really want your business, right? But that’s not true. It’s just…complicated. I’m happy to talk about being bi when it comes up. I just don’t know how to start the conversation. I end up feeling like I’m protecting a dirty secret again and that’s the last thing I want to do,” Liam said, slipping one of his hands into his back pocket. “Are you ready?”

No. I wanted to know so much more.

“Your shoes aren’t tied.”

“Grr.”

I studied his quick fingers as he bent to his task and did my best to rein in my curiosity. Fail.

“Can I ask a couple more questions?” I blurted.

“You want to braid my hair and pop some corn while you’re at it?”

“Sorry. I’m being nosy.”

“I’m kidding.” Liam shifted so his knee rested against mine. “You are nosy, but I get it. I’m a novelty to you. A surprise fellow queer.”

“Maybe so,” I agreed sheepishly. “I’m trying to work through something in my head. You know, it wasn’t just Elliot. Every single guy I’ve ever dated has been bi.”

“All of them?”

“Yep. I used to think they didn’t last because of chemistry, maturity, or boring sex.”

“Boring sex?”

“Or flat-out bad sex.”

Liam pursed his lips, his eyes alight with mischief. “Really? What’s bad sex like? I’ve never had it.”

“Ever? C’mon. Everyone’s been with someone who just doesn’t do it for them.”

“Sure, but that isn’t the same as bad sex.”

“Okay. Well, the ex I’m thinking of didn’t last long. It took forever to get to the good stuff and when we finally did…” I made a finger-in-hole gesture followed by an explosion.

“Ah! Two-pump chump, eh?”

I busted up laughing. No kidding. Tears gathered at the corners of my eyes. I sniffed as I swiped them away. “Yeah, that’s pretty much how it went.”

“That’s unfortunate, but hey…there’s someone out there for everyone. Some guys and gals might be looking for a two-pumper.”

“Ha! Really?”

“Sure. Some people like a quick trigger. Can’t you picture some guy lying flat on his back with his legs in the air, counting strokes just to—”

“Oh, my God, what is wrong with you?” I snort-laughed, pushing his shoulder.

Liam took the maneuver as an invitation to play. He tugged my arm and rolled on top of me. I wedged my knee between his and used momentum to regain the advantage. It didn’t last long. We flipped back and forth, switching positions in a halfhearted wrestling match.

Here’s the thing—we both knew Liam could take me with his hands bound and a blindfold on. Seriously. He’d find a way to use his meaty thighs to bring me down, climb over me and—

Oh, fuck. I had a boner.

I thought I might get away without him noticing, but I wasn’t quick enough. I shoved Liam’s chest and tried to scoot away. He must have seen something in my expression. He went still, but he didn’t move.

“Drew…is this okay?”

He lowered his hips…just a fraction of an inch. And then a little more. I sucked in a ragged breath as he dragged his rock-hard cock over mine. It took everything I had not to whimper or worse, open my legs like a ho, grab his ass, and grind against him.

“Yeah,” I choked, resting my hands on his hips.

Yep, that’s correct. I rested my hands on his hips. I didn’t push him away. I didn’t call time or attempt to bluff my way out of an awkward situation. Nope, not me. I flattened my palms over the stitching of his pockets and brushed my thumb along the inseam like we were longtime lovers who knew the moves to a simple and beautiful dance.

I couldn’t hear myself think over the beating of my heart. I was lost in the moment. Too lost to heed the logical part of my brain urging me to wake the fuck up and reset the balance. Whatever was happening here shouldn’t be happening.

Don’t kiss him. Don’t kiss him.

Too late.

Liam pressed his lips to mine and fuck, it was perfect. He tasted like cherry ChapStick and sunshine and smelled like chlorine. That shouldn’t have been appealing, but he reminded me of summer in the middle of January. It felt incredible to have his body on mine, covering me like a warm blanket. I was suddenly very on board with the idea of getting lost in him. I wrapped my arms around his neck, tilting my head and licking his lips in a silent request for entry.

He groaned into the connection the second our tongues touched. It was just a touch at first. I could almost convince myself it was innocent. But then I pushed my fingers through his wavy hair, opened my legs and my mouth wider, and laid down a fucking welcome mat. Take me, I’m yours.
