Elliot growled, then bit my neck like a wild beast, adding a finger and pumping his hips even faster. “Fuck, I’m gonna come.”

He pushed off the wall and switched positions, flattening himself against me before falling apart. He sealed his lips to mine as jizz spurted over his fist and my stomach. I didn’t have a chance to warn him I was right there too. I held on to his left hip, digging my fingers into his skin as my orgasm pulled me under.

I rested my forehead on Elliot’s, sucking in air and trembling like a leaf. It took a few minutes for my heartbeat to slow and my breathing to return to something close to normal. I was trapped between a wall of man and an actual wall. It was slightly claustrophobic, but I knew the slightest movement would require communication, and what the hell was I going to say? “Thanks for the hand job, and don’t forget it’s your turn to buy coffee” wasn’t going to reset the balance.

I settled for, “I can’t breathe.”

Elliot glanced down. “Wow. You made a mess.”

“Ha. I’ll clean up. I just need a second.” I didn’t recognize the dreamy note in my voice.

“I got this.” He stepped out of his board shorts and bent to grab his T-shirt, wiping my chest and his before dropping the shirt on the floor. He set his hands on his hips and struck a naked warrior pose. “Cum cleanup is my evil specialty.”

I burst into laughter. “You sure you want to admit that?”

“Nope. But in certain situ—”

Knock. Knock. “El, I got your wallet!”

Oh, fuck.

We gaped at each other in shock. And with the telltale sound of a key turning in the lock, shock quickly escalated to full-fledged panic.

“Oh, my God,” I whisper-hissed, “I’ll go to my room or—”

“Shh!” Elliot relocked the bolt and pulled his board shorts on. “It’s okay. I got this.”

I unlocked the door and slipped through a narrow opening, closing it firmly behind me before facing my best friend with a harried smile.

“Anyone I know?” Colby asked, greeting me with an amused lopsided grin.

“Nunya.”

“Nunya who?”

“Nunya Business,” I replied sarcastically as I swiped my wallet and keys from his hands. “Are you going to keep borrowing my wheels? If so, you might as well keep it overnight.”

“We’re car shopping this weekend. I hope he finds something he likes, but it may take more than one trip to a car dealer. Sky is picky.”

“He’s with you. He can’t be that picky,” I quipped.

“Ouch. Sick burn,” he deadpanned.

I chuckled and held my hand up for a high five. “Where is he?”

Colby ignored my hand and flipped me off. “Sky’s waiting for me in the parking lot. I have a fuckton of hockey equipment in your trunk. I was gonna ask you to help us unload it in exchange for beer, but since you’re barely dressed and have a mystery guest, I suppose we’ll manage without you.”

“Good luck. I’m gonna grab a shower. See ya.”

He gave me a fist bump, then pointed at my chest. “Don’t forget that spot on your chest. Looks like dried toothpaste or cum.”

I glanced down on cue and immediately noticed the crusty smear just above the waistband of my board shorts. “Gee, thanks.”

Colby chuckled. “You’re welcome. Hey, how’d you get home without wheels?”

“Braden picked me up,” I replied unthinking as I stepped backward.

I realized my mistake a moment later. Colby was a smart guy. It took him two seconds to do the math. He cast a surprised look toward the closed door. “Oh. Okay. This is gonna sound funny but…Tucker told me Sophie set him up with Anna. What’s going on?”

“Uh…”

“That’s what I thought.”

“Love ya like a brother, but I’m not doing this now. Bye, Colb.” I reached for the doorknob. “Don’t say a fuckin’ word.”

He frowned. A lock of his shaggy hair fell into his eyes when he shook his head. “Hey, I’m on your team, El. You know that, right?”

“Yeah. I do,” I sighed and opened the door.

“Just be careful.”

I didn’t bother to ask what he meant by that. Colby had a front-row seat to my messy breakups and hookups over the last year. I had a reputation for jumping in first and asking what the rules were later. But Braden wasn’t like me. He was extremely cautious. Buying generic toilet paper was a walk on the wild side for him. Fucking around with a friend-slash-roommate took things to a whole new level. I had no doubt he was in the shower right now planning his exit speech. The thought made me queasy.

Fuck, I was in over my head.

The apartment was quiet. I set my keys on the island and listened for signs of life. The thin walls were definitely the worst feature in our place, but it made it easier to track Braden. I heard water running in the bathroom and the telltale sound of the faucet being turned off as I considered my game plan. We needed food and we probably needed to talk. But food first.
