Dirty Delilah - Page 31

Asa was giving him such a hard time, but she had to give Sebastian credit. Not only was he listing Asa Wilder as a co-creator of the KII and bringing in his pavers to fix the parking lot of the garage—which he insisted on—but he was also big enough to take a punch.

Big enough. She leaned back against her windshield and closed her eyes, the sun on her face nowhere near as hot as the flush in her cheeks at the thought of all the things they’d done together.

Days. They’d hardly left Sebastian’s house for days.

And in the shower, when Asa had let her… She licked her lips, remembering Sebastian’s salty flavor. He’d loved it.

He wanted more.

He’d told her as much when they had another moment alone. He knew how she felt about Asa, knew how long Asa had loved her. He understood that they had something he couldn’t touch. But he was determined.

“You know how I am, Delilah,” he smiled. “When I want something, I want it more than I need to breathe.” His expression sobered. “I want you. I want this.”

Over the last few days she’d come to see how much Sebastian respected Asa, and that despite his teasing, Asa really liked the engineer as well. She wasn’t sure what Asa thought about them continuing to see each other intimately, but he was willing to give the fantasy more time.

“As long as you love me, Del. As long as you’re mine.”

God, how she loved him.

So much she’d already let her family know she’d be working from San Rafael for the foreseeable future. So much she refused to sell him the garage—a decision her father seemed to agree with on the phone, a definite tone of relief in his voice. Dean’s Garage would stay Dean’s Garage for a little while longer.

Someday, once Asa got around to proposing—something he’d been telling her repeatedly to prepare herself for—she would give it to him as a wedding present.

He’d also talked to her about what he’d been trying to say that night they’d argued. That he hadn’t wanted to trap her, to tie her to him or the garage at seventeen. That every time he tried to see her in Los Angeles, she’d seemed so together. So happy. And he hadn’t wanted to take that away from her. Didn’t want to be selfish.

Brilliant, talented, Asa “Wild Man” Wilder had made a mistake. One that had lasted eleven years. One he was spending nearly every minute of this last week making up for.

She’d been an idiot too. Some part of her had worried that she was like her mother. That once she got what she’d spent so long pining for, she’d be searching around restlessly for something else.

Delilah was nothing like her mother. This was it. Right. All she’d ever wanted and all she would ever need.

And if she craved a new experience? Had a new fantasy? Asa would share it with her.

He loved her. It was going to take at least fifty or a hundred years for her to get tired of that. It might take forever.

The phone rang and she hooked her Bluetooth to her ear. “Yes, Drew?”

Her sister was mumbling.

Delilah smiled and cupped her hand over her other ear. “What? I can’t hear you, that damn engine sounds like a cat in heat.”

“Why don’t you just fix it already?” Drew asked.

“What? Tell them they just need to change the fuel injection system? That no amount of tweaking is going to fix that noise if the unit is fried? I’m just a girl, what do I know. Besides…I think Asa is starting to suspect, but he’s enjoying the argument too much to fix the problem.”

“Men and their toys. I’d rather buy shoes.”

Delilah laughed. “I don’t know. Men might be better than shoes, Drew.”

“Never.”

“Tell me about Darcy. She really bought the place? We’re going to have a nightclub?”

“We are and we have to stick our sisterly noses in. It’s not that I don’t trust her judgment or her ability to focus on something for more than five minutes but…Well, we should help. That’s all I’m saying.” Drew sounded worried.

Delilah had noticed that the men had stopped arguing. They were speaking in low voices and staring at her in a way that made her thighs tighten. “Of course we will. That sounds good, Drew. In fact I was already thinking we should put the servers in overalls. I hear they can be sexy.” She paused, licking her lips when Asa started unbuttoning his shirt. “If she thinks it’ll be too plain, we’ll just jazz them up. Your DD4 logo…some glitter. Darcy likes glitter.”

“Overalls?” Drew sounded horrified.
