He must have sensed my insecurity. He pulled me into his arms and said, "I have not had sexual relations with that woman."

I laughed at his attempt to be funny. "Uh huh."

"But I would have walked to the end of the earth to get your address and surprise you. Now, kiss me again."

I turned my head in defiance.

“Come on, baby, don’t deny me those juicy lips,” he said with a devastatingly sexy look in his hazel green eyes. He leaned in and sucked tenderly on my neck, and his cologne tickled my senses like cool air.

Where was Tasha when I needed her? I needed that coochie intervention at the very moment he began to beg. Having a will of their own, my full lips puckered and moved toward his. Our lips met and embraced as we lay in the center of my bed. I slipped away, and we gravitated together. All I could do was say an internal prayer for mercy on my soul.

"You can have me, if that’s what you want," I whispered.

"Need," he moaned into my mouth, and in one quick swoop, Jacob was on top of me. He took one of my breasts into his mouth and sucked ever so gently on my tender bud. "You taste sweet. I want to taste all of you." He moved down to my thighs and I tensed.

"Relax babe," he said climbing back up to kiss my lips.

"How long do you plan to be in town?" I asked.

"For as long as you want me."

"So I guess that means you’ll be here to go with me to church in the morning?" I asked, as his hand eased under me to embrace the small of my back.

“Church?”

“Yes, you know the building where people go pray and learn scripture.”

“Yeah,” he pulled me as close as our bodies could get. "Whatever you want."

“Fine, then…” I

squirmed from underneath him and sat on the edge of the bed. "I want you to come back in the morning so we can go to church."

"But baby, technically, it’s already morning," he said, gesturing to the sunrise attempting to shine through the curtains.

"I know, but I’m going to need you to come back when I’ve had more time to check my emotions."

Getting out of bed, I reached down, picked up his trail of clothes and threw them at him. I then left my room and waited in the living room, as he got dressed. It wasn’t long before he was heading my way.

"If this is what you want, I'll do it, but it’s hard to walk out this door." He paused, looking at me as if he wanted me to respond. "I'll be back later today," he said, as I stood holding the door open.

"See you then," I responded, avoiding his gaze.

"Destiny?"

"Yes?"

"I love you." He walked out the door and I shut the door behind him, forcing myself not to watch him walk down the driveway and to his car.

CHAPTER TEN

DESTINY

After the Pain

The next morning, I awoke to the scrumptious scent of our sex, filling my bedroom. Jacob was an expert lover, and the essence of his love lingered as a pleasant memory. While I would have loved to lay there and think about our lovemaking, the fact that Justine had been an obvious wedge just a few weeks ago had my attention as well. I pushed back the comfortable covers and wiped the sleep from my eyes.

Getting out of bed, the first thing I did was walk to my vanity. I took a long look in the mirror. I assessed the woman that stared back at me. Observing the undeniable glow covering me, shining like headlights through my eyes that had been puffy, I knew what my decision was going to be. If Jacob proved to be truly over Justine, I would give us a chance.
