Drive Me Wilde (Breathless 6)

“Thank you, and I’m sorry to ask you on such short notice, but I’ve been swamped at work and I wasn’t planning to go. But, I just got word that Rihanna has been confirmed to be attending with Drake, and it will be a great networking opportunity.”
“Say no more, Mr. Wilde.” I had been calling him Matt. However, Mr. Wilde had seemed fitting during this conversation about his work trip. Plus, every now and then, I liked to remind myself that, though we were friendly toward one another, he was my boss and I was his employee.
“You’re a lifesaver, Tasha. You can expect a bonus on this week’s check. But there’s one thing…”
“What’s that?”
“That’s the last time I want to hear you call me Mr. Wilde. It’s Matt from now on. You’re making me feel extremely old when you call me Mr. Wilde, and you’ve been here long enough. I feel we’ve been through a lot this past month and I want to let go of the formalities.” I could almost hear the smile on his face and he was right. In the past month, we’d been through a lot. Starting off with nearly burning his place down, to the incident with the bully, and to proving to him that I could handle the task of being with Cody and even a few of his friends.
“I’m sorry…Matt,” I said, and his name felt just as good rolling off my tongue then as it did when I imagined how it would sound to scream out his name in the middle of butt naked sex. “I didn’t mean to make you feel old, but I’m a few months shy of thirty myself. I know you’re not older than me.” If he was, he damn sure didn’t look it.
“I’m close to that number,” he said and laughed. “See you when you get here.”
When I got to the house, he offered me a guestroom to stay in. It was a lavish bedroom that also looked big enough to spread out my entire apartment, and it would certainly make me comfortable. However, while Matt was gone, Cody and I hung out in the den all night playing cards and board games until we were exhausted. I tucked him in bed and came back downstairs. I didn’t even make it to the guestroom and instead found myself crashed out on the couch.
Sometime during the night though, I got restless. After tossing and turning for hours on the uncomfortable couch, I got up and walked to the bathroom on the first floor. It was next door to Matt’s ground floor master bedroom. After I relieved my bladder, I washed my hands and came out of the bathroom. I had planned to go to the guestroom Matt offered to me. However, for an unexplainable reason I stood at his closed door, with the nagging desire to see how the room he slept in every night looked. I shouldn’t have even considered it, but temptation was begging me to peek inside. I hesitated, but only for a split second.
I gave in, turned the knob, and walked into the super large room where elegance just wrapped its arms around me once I walked in. My sock covered feet sank into the feather carpet as I walked over to his bed and stared at the huge mound of comfortable looking cream-colored fabrics.
I couldn’t control the urge. I sank into Matt’s comfortable bed, feeling him all around me. Within minutes of laying my head on the pillow, I was asleep. I immediately drifted off into a cloud of dreams. What a difference expensive cotton made for the sleeping experience. I floated through the soft cotton clouds for hours and what seemed like days, until I gasped. Matt had found me in the clouds and pulled me against his warm body. I smiled as we both started floating together. It felt so good snuggling against him, and I was going to enjoy every minute of it. So much so, I didn’t want to wake up
. Sweet baby Jesus, just let me take this feeling out of my dreams and with me forever, I prayed in my dream.
The moment our lips met, I arched my body against his and the shockwaves from his kiss traveled all through me. That dream had to be ranked up at the top of my best dreams ever, so good that it felt real. Too real. His tongue explored my mouth gently at first, then with an urgency that caused me to moan “Oh, God please don’t stop,” against his lips.
“I won’t stop, ever.” His breathless response caused my eyes to buck open. I was in the darkness of Matt’s bedroom with very real hands clasping my cheeks and kissing me passionately. I pushed him, and he fell back on the bed smiling.
It wasn’t a dream. Shit, I wasn’t dreaming…
“What the hell are you doing, Matt?” I jumped away from him and immediately wanted to slap the smile off his face.
“What do you mean? I was following your lead, Tasha.”
“My lead? I thought I was dreaming what the hell are you doing in bed with me?” I asked, still in shock that I’d kissed my boss and loved every scrumptious morsel of it. This wasn’t supposed to happen…
“First off, you’re in my bed. Second, you kissed me.” Matt smiled brighter. He was enjoying my discomfort and he wouldn’t stop staring at my slightly swollen lips that still yearned for his to devour them.
I looked around the room. He was right. “I-I- am in your bed.” My face fell. How could I be so stupid as to fall asleep in there? “I’m so sorry. Am I fired, again? It’s been so nice working here, and I know that this might change things, but I didn’t mean for this to happen. I was sleep, then went to the bathroom, and ended up in here. Please don’t fire me.” The words rushed out as I stared blankly at him, still flabbergasted how my dream had come flooding back to reality.
“Tasha, calm down…” he said. His husky voice drooled with sex appeal. “Not on your life am I going to fire you. After that kiss, you are hired for a long-term position that I don’t see ending any time in the near future.”
I frowned slightly as his words echoed in my mind. I didn’t want to muddy our working relationship waters, so I didn’t put too much stock into what he’d said. “Matt, this isn’t right. I shouldn’t have gotten in your bed.” I looked away from him. I knew my face had to be a thousand shades of brown with even a hint of red. “I’m sorry that I did…um…this.” I looked at his bed and quickly scrambled out from under his covers. “Since you’re home now, I’ll just grab my bag and head home. Goodnight!” I started to make my escape, but he grabbed my hand.
“Don’t go!” he said, and those two words in his husky whisper made my knees buckle and I was unable to move any further away from him. I opened my mouth to tell him I didn’t want to leave him, but that it would be best that I go, when I heard my name being called frantically from upstairs.
“Tasha? TASHA!” I jerked back and turned to Matt’s door. Cody’s loud screams were enough to tear anyone’s attention from what they were doing, even if it involved the potential of being seduced by a tall, gorgeous, successful man that smelled a mixture of martinis and lightly sprayed Clive Christian cologne. I glanced once more at Matt, then without a word, I left his bedroom. I hurried up the steps to Cody’s room and heard his voice again. “Tasha…where are you?”
I hurried into his room. “What’s wrong buddy?” I asked.
He looked at me, fear stuck in his eyes. I went over to his bed and sat on the edge, pulling him towards me. “I had a bad dream,” he stated.
“I’m here now,” I whispered. I just held him, reciting soothing things softly to him to try to comfort him. As he was about to doze off, I heard his soft words.
“I love you.”
My heart sang with those words. “I love you too, little buddy.” I kissed the top of his forehead and waited for him to fall into a deep sleep, before I slipped out from under his arms and quietly left his room.
I heaved a sigh when I made it into the hallway. Matt was standing close by the doorway, and his smile let me know that he had been looking in on us. We walked downstairs together, and I thought about Matt’s lips on mine, but I knew that moment was most likely lost forever. I could store it in the lost files with every other dream I’d had. I pretty much ridiculed him for kissing me, when my heart was still fluttering over that kiss.
