“Oh yeah. That’s it. Faster. Get me there too.” Ben’s cock fucked up into Maddox’s fist, urging him on.

Searching blindly, Maddox found Ben’s mouth again, crushing their mouths together as he came, all hard shudders and gasping breaths. Warmth hit his hand, as Ben, the cocky bastard, managed the simultaneous orgasm trick better than Maddox ever had. Knowing that Ben was feeling it too, that he too was shattered by the pleasure of kissing and touching each other, teased another few spurts out of his cock.

Ben stroked him through it, even as he panted against Maddox’s neck, murmuring nonsense words about how good Maddox was, how hot and sexy he was. Even in the throes of passion, the guy couldn’t stop the BS, but Maddox didn’t care, wearing the words like a fuzzy blanket, Ben’s obvious pleasure every bit as sweet as his own.

“Oh my word.” He flopped back against his pillows. “That was...”

“Experiment a success.” Ben grinned down at him. “No chemistry issues for us. This dating business is going to be fun.”

“Dating is more than spectacular sex,” Maddox felt the need to point out.

“Yeah, but it was spectacular, right?” Ben sounded as drunk as Maddox felt.

“It was...” Maddox’s mind was already galloping ahead. “But...what now?”

Sitting up, Ben plucked the now floppy ice packs off his pillow. “I go grab us a towel and put these back in the freezer and then we try to sleep.”

“That’s...one plan.” Maddox wished he could have Ben’s easiness.

However, biting his lip, Ben looked uncharacteristically nervous. “That okay? Me sleeping in here? Your bed is about a thousand times more comfortable and—”

“I want you here,” Maddox admitted. And then, because that felt heavy, like a barbell across his chest, he heaved the weight off by laughing. “And I wouldn’t turn down a repeat of that...experiment in the morning either.”

“Oh, you’ll get one.” Ben licked the same lip he’d been biting, wolfish grin making Maddox’s stomach do a funny little flip.

The jury was still out on dating, but Ben was right about one thing—Maddox did love him bossy and confident. If nothing else, tomorrow was likely to be distinctly more fun than the past few weeks, and that had to be a good thing, right?

Chapter Fifteen

Ben finished the last of the stretching reps that his physical therapist wanted him to do, mind already drifting to what he’d do when Maddox got done with his own therapy session.

Back when they’d been in BUD/S, Ben had been obsessed with doing exactly what the instructors asked and then some—going over and above whatever the expectations were. He knew it had driven a lot of people nuts at times, including Maddox. And now, once he’d decided to do this whole dating thing, he was obsessed with being the perfect boyfriend material.

Only problem was that he wasn’t entirely sure what that looked like. Trey had been the gracious host, a decent cook, and a social planner, managing their activities, which to be honest relied heavily on awesome sex, especially in the early months, and not much else. He already knew that wasn’t going to fly with Maddox, who needed more from his relationships than a steady diet of sex. What that was, Ben was still learning, but he was bound and determined to provide whatever it was because the thought of someone else providing it...well, that just wasn’t happening.

The making out and stroking off that morning had been just as mind-blowing as last night, but Ben had a feeling that rushing right home for a repeat wouldn’t impress Maddox. And Ben wanted to impress him even more than he wanted more sex.

“What’s a good date spot in town?” he asked his therapist, Melanie, as she prepared the electro-stim machine they ended each session with. She was tall but young, still gangly in that fresh-out-of-college way. “I need to impress a guy,” he added when she blinked, lest she think he was coming on to her.

“My last boyfriend took me to Old Town on our first date.” She smiled, eyes far away, clearly enjoying the memory.

He hadn’t done Old Town San Diego since he was a kid, and they’d had out-of-town relatives visiting. “But that’s a lot of walking.”

“There’s a trolley tour. And lots of restaurants for people watching.” Melanie arranged the electrode patches around Ben’s shoulder once he stretched out on his stomach.

“That could work.” He tried not to laugh at how her touch tickled.

“Is it the guy you come with? He seems...deep.”

Ben supposed that was one way of describing Maddox. He nodded.

“He might be more the art museum type if you don’t want to do Old Town or maybe the opera.”

Ben made a face. Oh hell no on the opera. He wanted to be romantic, not torture himself. “Old Town will be fine.”

“What about Old Town?” Maddox wandered over, crutches clicking against the floor. He settled into the chair closest to Ben’s therapy table.
