“That’s the dog from the shelter. My favorite little man. You adopted him?”

Warren takes me into his bathroom and shuts the door, setting me down on my feet. “I did,” he says, reaching around me to turn on the shower.

“Why?”

He looks at me steadily, his eyes still running over me like he’s worried I’ll disappear. “Isn’t it obvious?” he says quietly.

My heart overfills at the implication of his words. “What did you name him?”

“I didn’t,” he answers. “I just call him dog.”

A laugh bubbles out of me. “Of course you do.”

I step backwards into the shower and under the stream of water, and my nipples instantly pebble from the cool water. He eyes me hungrily as he strips off his shirt and pants, tossing them onto the floor.

“Holy shit,” I murmur appreciatively, earning me a little chuckle.

My eyes rove over him. He was gorgeous before, but now that he’s fully healthy, he’s almost unreal. He’s also obviously been working out, because damn. Lots more muscles. Everywhere.

“New gym membership?” I quip.

He steps onto the water with me and adjusts the temperature. “I had a lot of frustrations I needed to dispel.”

“Dispelling looks good on you.”

Warren grins before backing me up against the wall and propping his arms on either side of me. “I missed you so fucking much.”

“I missed you too.”

“I was a complete and utter idiot for letting you walk away from me that night.”

I nod. “Yeah, no argument here.”

His lips quirk as he reaches down and starts caressing me with the water, his fingers trailing over me and sending chills down my spine. “I hired seven different private investigators to try to find you, and none of them could come up with jack shit.”

My eyes widen in surprise. “You looked for me?”

His lips find my neck before nibbling on my ear. “Trix, I would’ve looked for you for the rest of my goddamn life. But it seems you found me first.”

“I did,” I reply with a nod, my eyes falling closed as he continues to touch me. “Now show me.”

“Show you what?”

“Show me that you love me. Please,” I beg.

“It would be my pleasure,” he replies.

He gently lifts my leg to wrap around his hip. I feel the hot length of him against me as he kisses me again, and his hand comes down between us to touch me where I want him most.

“Yes…” I sigh. “I missed this. Missed you. So damn much,” I say, my voice cracking.

Another tear falls from my eye, and Warren leans forward to kiss it away. “No more tears. It fucking kills me to see you cry. I’ll never make you cry again, Trix,” he promises, and I can see the truth burning in his brown eyes.

“Make love to me, Warren.”

He hikes my leg up higher over his hip, and then his hot, hard length is slipping inside of me.

We both groan in tandem, and despite him telling me not to, more tears fall, but this time, it’s because of the overwhelming sense of rightness.
