“That was hot, church boy.” Kreed reached out and stroked his face, before leaning down to brush a kiss across his lips.

“I thought so, too,” Aaron answered, his voice still a little haggard from all the recent strenuous activity. He managed to smile up at Kreed. “I’m covered in jizz and I can’t fucking move.”

“Jizz, huh? Can’t have that, now, can we?” Kreed winked as he dipped his head and licked the come off Aaron’s chin then moved down his chest and stomach, before bringing his hand to his mouth and sucking what remained of Aaron’s orgasm from his long fingers. Aaron’s dick started to regain consciousness.

“Okay, that had to be the hottest thing I’ve ever seen,” Aaron said and pushed his dick back down.

“Oh, yeah? I love doing it.” Kreed chuckled then leaned in and took his mouth in another searing kiss. Aaron opened, and Kreed’s tongue slid inside, brushing against his. Kreed took his face between his palms and drew him closer, deepening the kiss. He could still taste his bitter release on Kreed’s tongue. This guy was amazing, but now that the orgasm had released some of the tension of the moment, the needling thoughts in the back of his mind kept trying to push to the front and warn him that there was a reason for those cautionary barriers he’d failed to maintain. Kreed Sinacola was still a life-altering complication.

Damn it!

He was screwed. Aaron slid his hands to the back of Kreed’s neck then up into his thick, dark hair and kissed Kreed passionately, letting his feelings rather than rational thought take control of his actions.

After a few minutes, the kiss turned into a soft, sweet sampling of lips. Several more minutes passed before Kreed’s head lifted and that dark gaze held his. Kreed moved his fingers along Aaron’s neck and his thumb stroked back and forth across his jaw, his sinful lips curling into a smile.

“We need to get some rest. I have plans for you tomorrow.” Kreed dipped his head and kissed him again. Aaron nodded; he was completely spent and couldn’t hold his eyes open any longer. Aaron rolled to his side and smiled when he felt Kreed draw the covers up and over them. Aaron snuggled into his pillow, pressing his ass against Kreed as the deputy marshal curled around him from behind. Kreed pressed his big body tightly against Aaron’s back and surrounded him with those strong arms. He felt safe and secure as he listened to the cadence of Kreed’s even breaths, and Aaron drifted off to sleep.

Chapter 19

A smile slowly spread along Kreed’s lips as his eyes blinked open. Aaron’s scent held him in place as he breathed his lover in, only moving to roll his head to the side and glance at the alarm clock on the nightstand in Aaron’s bedroom. Happy New Year to him. They’d shared a night to remember. Epic. One for the record books.

Mind-blowing, hard-core, body-bruising sex with a hot, wickedly naughty partner then falling asleep curled tightly around the same guy seemed one of the best possible ways to start this year off right.

Kreed never slept in this late. Not that they hadn’t drifted off too much before sunup. So technically, sleeping in till ten was in reality only a few hours’ sleep, not necessarily the self-indulgent act it sounded like when you heard words like, “sleeping in till ten o’clock.” Last night had been amazing and Kreed could honestly say with his whole heart that he wanted more.

Normally, he didn’t do repeat sessions with the guys he fucked either, let alone waking up in the same bed with them. He really liked Aaron—more than liked him—but could he have a relationship with this man? Who knew for sure, because he had no idea how the dynamics of that worked. Relationships had never been in his vocabulary.

Of course, he’d have to factor in Mitch. Yeah, he and Mitch had had a brief fling for a short time, going out, getting drunk, and fucking each other. Not committed by any means and it happened when they were much younger. But nothing compared to this feeling. He’d woken with fucking butterflies in his stomach, for Christ’s sake. Yeah, nothing compared remotely to Aaron.

His short-lived time with Mitch had been what they’d both needed at that particular stage in their lives. He and Mitch would have never ended up as a couple. They just didn’t fit that way. Most definitely better as brothers-in-arms than lovers. That strong bond was probably the main reason Skinner had enough sense to assign them as permanent partners.

But him and Aaron? Yeah, he could see himself with Aaron Stuart…for the long haul. Kreed shifted his position to get a better look, but with Aaron’s body spread across his, he couldn’t move much without disturbing him.

Stubborn, smart-mouthed, hard to get along with Aaron Stuart was an extreme snuggler. Who would have known? Actually Aaron was a lot of things that he hadn’t appeared to be at first glance. Warm, compassionate, caring… Smart, funny, and a phenomenal lover… Chatty, too. When he’d opened up last night, he’d been animated and talkative. Words like adorable, fun, and caring also seemed to apply.

Aaron knew about world events, cared about the human race more than any other person he’d ever known, and was shockingly a political activist. More surprisingly, they actually agreed on most parts of the political spectrum. Honestly, Aaron hadn’t come right out and taken a progressive stand, but his thoughts on moving society forward in a positive, protective way were a part of every unguarded conversation they’d had during the night.

Those open discussions had given Kreed pause, made him look at Aaron in a whole new light. Those were all very attractive qualities to someone like Kreed, who had spent his whole adult life working as a public servant, who believed in protecting society.

Kreed had chosen to ignore the little prickling needles of concern when it came to Aaron. Based on his own jaded past, he knew the lessons of how easily ethical lines could blur while working for the greater good. And whatever Aaron did, he seemed to truly believe in his life’s work, focused on making the world a little better. One thing for certain, Aaron hadn’t been tainted. Life hadn’t beaten the hell out of him yet. He was idealistic and determined, which was incredibly refreshing, and a little arousing. He wasn’t sure he knew anyone who still believed they could make a difference, and Aaron had no doubts that he could.
