Before she knew it, they’d all said their vows, their prayers, and promises.
“Do you, Nick Jacob Kelly, take Pepper to love and to hold, through thick and thin, to be your wife?”
His eyes shown bright as he said, “I do,” slipping the first part of the simple band onto her finger.
“Do you, Ace Mitchell Kelly…” A gasp left her breathless hearing he’d changed his last name. A slick smile crossed his face. “…take Pepper, to love and to hold, through thick and thin, to be your wife?”
“I do.” His voice held firm as he slipped the middle piece of the band on her finger. Leaning into her, he softly said, “I couldn’t let you be a Kelly without me.”
Her smile was huge as the pastor asked her, “Do you Pepper Nicole Wallace take Nick and Ace, to love and to hold, through thick and thin, to be your husbands?”
“Very much so,” she rushed to say, slipping Ace’s wedding band on first, then Nick’s, as they placed the final band of her ring on her finger, each holding a name.
“I now pronounce you husbands and wife.” She knew it sounded weird to some, but she loved it. Husbands. “You may kiss your bride.”
The small gathering of friends and family cheered as Nick took her lips in a searing kiss, his hands wrapping around her back. His tongue played gently with hers as he slowed it down to light nips. She was breathless as Ace pulled her into his arms, gripping her hips as he picked her up, so she wrapped her legs around his waist. Nick pushed into her back, and she heard cameras snicking as someone took pictures. She didn’t care who. Pepper had her men, and that was all that mattered to her.
Ace let her slide down his body as the pastor announced once again, “I give you the Kellys!” More cheering, and almost more happiness than she could handle.
They were whole.
She was lost when they found her. Now, though…?
Now, she was home.
The sweetest of endings!
