Seeing Raven looking like her dog got kicked in the ribs wasn’t what I was hoping for tonight, but I knew getting her out of there and away from Mack was probably for the better. Shit still ain’t adding up, and it’s not like I’ve had a whole lot of time to call the Clubhouse and have Church. Which is something she and I are gonna talk about the second we’re inside her apartment.
My hand went to hers that were wrapped around my middle. She balked at the idea of getting on the bike at the strip club for all of two seconds when I asked her where her car was. Raven saw it my way. Her body was plastered to mine for all of three blocks before we were at her place. Sucked big time not getting to slide inside her earlier or get a taste of her directly from the source.
Now she’s in her apartment, throwing me so much attitude that I can’t even get the rest of the story from her.
“Quit pacin’ and finish telling me what happened at the club. I can’t make it right if you don’t let me know what’s going on.” I walk up to her, stopping her damn pacing, and cup the sides of her cheeks.
“It’s so gross, like, who would want to be with someone like that, Maddox?” she questions me, but who the fuck knows what she’s talkin’ about?
“Yeah, I get that, spitfire, but you gotta let me know who the person was.” I crouch down so we’re at eye level, needing to know what the next fuckin’ step is.
“It was Mack. She was with Mack. The woman who wanted nothing to do with me, the one I had to practically nurse back to health after every attempted overdose. And the absolute worst thing that could ever fucking happen, that completely blindsided me.” Goddamn, this girl has been put through the wringer, and it looks like I’m only scratchin’ the surface right now.
“I’m guessin’ you had no idea she was still in town.” Raven doesn’t pull away from me. Her hands move to my sides, beneath my cut and T-shirt, nails biting into my flesh. I’m a dick for even having that twitch in my jeans, but the way she’s digging into me, it’s got me thinking of all the things we didn’t get to do earlier this evening.
“None whatsoever, or that she’d have a baby on her hip, in a fucking strip club. Oh my God, I have to call Selena and let her know what’s happening. If my mother is back, who knows what kind of mayhem she’ll bring with her. I swear to God, if she causes Selena or her family any kind of trouble, I will kill someone, and I do not look good in orange.” There’s my spitfire. It’s good she’s damn mad. The way she went almost comatose wasn’t what I liked seeing.
“What the fuck has gotten into Mack? You make your call to Selena. I’m gonna call the club. While you’re on the phone, pack for a couple of nights. I’m thinking we’ll need to stay at the clubhouse until we come up with a solid plan.” My lips quirk at the fire I’m seeing in her eyes.
“You think I’m leaving the only real home I’ve ever had? No fucking way. And why would I go to your clubhouse, Maddox? This is all just a coincidence.” She moves away, giving me her back.
“My mouth on your lips, my fingers in your cunt?” I question Raven.
“Well, yeah, but that doesn’t mean I have to agree to everything you want. My home is perfectly safe.” I get what she’s sayin’, but somethin’ ain’t right.
“Not saying you have to, but on this I’m not budgin’ til we figure shit out. There’s too much above the surface not to delve deeper into this shit. Now, come ‘ere and kiss me, then make your calls, and don’t leave your apartment, not even to sit on the back patio.” Her apartment is small from what I can see of it, a big open area with her living room and kitchen. That’s where the patio is, directly off her kitchen.
“You’re so annoying.” She stomps her feet, giving me her attitude, but she still comes to me.
“I hear ya.” I lean down, giving her my lips, sucking on the top one, pulling it into my mouth before letting her go.
“Maddox,” she moans when I back away.
“Get your shit done. Want you wrapped around me on the bike in less than an hour.” Now it’s me who leaves, knowing I got a Prez to call and shit to get to the bottom of.

The ride to the clubhouse was exhilarating. The way Maddox’s hands rubbed up and down my leg at a stop light made it even better. I even dabbled with teasing him some, but he just shook his head, though I saw his grin when my hand slid beneath his shirt, feeling his happy trail, delving the tips of my fingers and almost coming undone at the velvety feel of his cock. I’m not sure who was more turned on, Maddox or me.
