“Fuck,” I mutter. “You don’t have to say anything in particular to sweet talk my dick. Just the sound of your voice does it.”
Jessica’s eyebrows arch and a smile crosses her face. “I’ll get your files for the meeting,” she mouths before exiting the office.
Lorelei’s sexy voice floats through the phone. “Oh.” It’s clear she has no idea the effect she has on me most of the time.
“What do you love?”
“Morning texting with you. Teasing you. There should be more of it.”
“Perhaps we could do it earlier in the morning. When I’m not about to walk into a meeting with an investor.”
She laughs, and fuck if that doesn’t shoot straight to my cock. “There’s no fun in that, Ashton.” I hear the smile in her voice and know that she intends for this to become a regular thing. “Okay, I’ll let you go now. See you at five.”
Just as quickly as she phoned me, she ends the call, and I’m left with the kind of need a man would do anything to have his woman take care of. If the meetings I have lined up for today were ones I could easily get out of, I would. I’d cancel them all and demand Lorelei rearrange her day so I could spend it fucking her. But they’re not, so I focus my thoughts on work and attempt to put her out of my mind. The fact I struggle with that shows me how deeply she’s worked her way into my heart, because not once in my life have I had trouble putting work before anything else. Lorelei is a first for me.

“I’ve loved this week,” Lorelei says as she leans in close for a kiss. “Every single minute of it. And just so you know, every Saturday should start the same as today.”
“You wouldn’t prefer to be woken up by something other than Jessica calling me at 6:00 a.m.?”
She grins. “Well, that part we could change, but I liked that it woke you up and inspired you to do dirty things to me.”
My gaze is drawn to the counter of the café we’re in. It’s the one on Willow Street that Lorelei loves, and the owner is trying to get her attention. “Francesca wants you,” I say with reluctance. She’s right—this week has been our best yet, and my plan is to spend every second of this weekend with her.
She pushes her chair back and stands. Dropping another kiss on my lips, she says, “I’ll get you another coffee.”
I reach for her hand. “Don’t get side-tracked.”
Another smile graces her face. “I like it when bossy Ashton comes out to play.”
I track her movements, mindlessly picking up my phone when a text comes in. I’ve been waiting to hear back from Jessica, but I’m not convinced even that news can draw my attention from Lorelei for long.
Jessica: Sian has three contracts signed for Willow Street and another two interested. Very interested. I’d say we’re confirmed for five now.
Me: Good.
Jessica: I love the Scott enthusiasm. It’s mind-blowing. Maybe you’ll consider throwing a party once we have them all signed.
Me: Your sarcasm is duly noted.
Jessica: And there I was trying to be as subtle as you. #Fail
Me: Enjoy your weekend, Jessica.
I place the phone back on the table and look up just in time to see Boston Haynes enter the café. He heads straight to where Francesca stands at
the counter and chats to her for a moment. Lorelei has disappeared while I was texting Jessica, and Francesca motions towards the table where I’m sitting. Haynes’s eyes meet mine and he stalls for a beat before striding my way.
“I’m looking for Lorelei,” he says when he reaches me.
Relaxing back into my seat, I shrug. “I don’t know where she is.”
His eyes narrow at me. “Don’t be an asshole, Scott. If you two are as tight as you think you are, there’s nothing to lose by me seeing her.”
“I know there’s nothing to lose. I simply don’t know where she went.” It’s the truth, but I also wouldn’t tell him if I did know where she was. The less Haynes sees her, the better as far as I’m concerned.
