“You don’t know what you’re asking, Wren.”
I lift my hips, and he moans. It’s a deep sound from somewhere in the back of his throat. “I know I love you. I know that I want you to take me. I want you to take what you’ve been so patiently waiting for. What we’ve both been waiting for.”
He growls and pulls out before slamming back in. Over and over and over again. He keeps a steady rhythm. “I love you and your magic pussy,” he pants. I’m glad it’s dark because I’m smiling. He is so lost in me, in us, that he’s spouting crazy.
“I’m not going to last. Touch yourself, baby. Get there for me.”
Doing as he asks, I slide my hand between us and begin to rub slow circles against my clit. “So sexy,” he pants. “You there, baby?”
“Y-Yes,” I moan.
“You’re squeezing the hell out of my cock, baby. I can’t— Oh, fuck!” he roars as his body stills above me. He slouches over me, holding his weight on his elbows. He’s breathing hard, as am I.
“I don’t know if we are going to call it magic, but that was… something. Something I’ve never felt before.” The words rush out of me as I try to catch my breath. It was more than sex. It was deep, emotional, and life changing.
Magic.
“That’s because it’s our magic, baby.” He kisses me softly. “Don’t move. I’m going to get something to clean us up with.” He slowly pulls out, and I miss his warmth and being connected to him. He walks out of the room, only to come right back with a warm wet cloth. He manages to clean between my thighs even in the darkness of the room.
“Come on, beautiful. Let’s go sleep in my room in case Maddie needs us.”
Beat.
Beat.
Beat.
The way he thinks of not only me but my daughter has my heart pattering hard against my chest. I allow him to pull me from the bed, and he turns on the bedside lamp. Together, we get dressed. He links his fingers with mine and we head back across the hall to his room. We climb into bed, and he pulls me back into his chest, wrapping his arms tightly around me.
“Sweet dreams, baby.”
“Night.” I whisper the words. My mind is racing just as fast as my heart. I’m happy and content. After over a year of sadness bearing down on me, life is looking up, and I have Marshall Riggins and his family to thank for that.
Chapter 21
Marshall
I’ve barely slept. I woke up sweating and irritated, until I realized why I was sweating. Wren has her tight little body wrapped around me, sleeping peacefully. I couldn’t fall back asleep after that. I couldn’t stop thinking about yesterday and my confession of love. Not just mine but hers as well. And then when we got back to my place, it’s a day I’ll never forget.
I was convinced my dad and brothers were talking shit. I should have known better. I saw my brothers fall. I was there when they found their magical love, and that should have been enough to make me a believer. The only reason I can come up with is that I didn’t believe because Wren wasn’t in my life. After meeting her, things changed. My outlook on life and everything I thought I wanted for my future.
I was certain that sleeping with only one woman for the rest of my life sounded like a life of boredom. I knew that I would get there eventually, but I assumed I had more wild oats to sow. I was so fucking wrong. I can say with absolute certainty that knowing Wren is my only for the rest of my days is fine with me. It’s better than fine. It’s my future.
She and Madeline are my future.
They are all I want or need. Well, maybe give Madeline a brother or sister or two. Maybe more. I guess that’s something we have to talk about.
She adjusts her position, and I know she’s waking up. I’m watching her, so when she peers up at me, I get to see her sleepy smile. “Morning, baby.”
“Are you watching me sleep?”
“Yep.”
“Creeper.”
“You call it creeping. I call it memorizing the moment.”
She laughs softly. “Is she still sleeping?”
“She’s been moving around a lot. My guess she’ll be up soon.” I kiss the top of her head and wrap my arms around her a little tighter. “So, I was thinking I could make my girls some breakfast, and then I’ll get ready. We can go to your place to get you some clothes, stop by the hospital to see Conrad and Aspen, and then head to my parents’ for Sunday dinner.”
I hold my breath waiting for her answer. “Okay.”
Madeline starts to jabber, making me smile. “I’ll go start breakfast.” I climb out of bed and slip into a pair of shorts, tossing Wren a T-shirt before going to the Pack ’n Play and lifting Madeline into my arms. “Look at you looking all cute with messy bed head,” I say, kissing her cheek. She snuggles into my chest, burying her face in my neck. “Wren?”
