Valkyrie's Harem (Academy of Immortals 1)

“One female isn’t enough for that man,” a twin says. Her sister hums in agreement.
I focus back on the man down on the stage, my heart hammering in my chest. The girls may be right. Fury boils beneath the skin of the Immortal below, a fury that burns too hot for the mission we have ahead.
A fury that I may be the only one that can help him get it under control.

Agis
Shortly after my fight with Hildi, I dismiss the class. I hadn’t wanted to get in the ring with the Valkyrie. I’d intentionally been keeping my distance even back at the Nead. It’s been a long time since I’d been around a woman with so much strength, beauty, and control. I found myself thinking of her. Dreaming of her. Pleasuring myself…
Gods. I almost snapped her neck.
Admittedly, I summoned the cloak and scythe. I wanted to scare her. Unfortunately, she’s stubborn and viewed it as a challenge. Once the God of Death takes over, Agis, the man inside, has very little self-control. Typically, that battle could have ended one of two ways: with me killing her, or with me tearing the clothes off her body and forcing myself on her in front of a room full of students.
I run my hand down my face, wishing I felt shame. I just feel lost.
“That was quite the show.”
I turn and see the Professor Christensen walking down the stairs. I didn’t know he’d seen the fight. “Hildi faced the God of Death and held her own.”
“She did,” I say. “Luckily, she survived.”
“I wouldn’t call it luck, Agis, you have more control over yourself than you realize.”
But that’s the thing. I wasn’t in control. She was. She’s the one that stopped me. Her voice soft. The sound reached into my heart and gripped it, pulling me, Agis, awake.
The professor holds out a roll of paper.
“What is that?” I ask.
“A map of the building. I figured you may want it to begin your search. This place is much more than it seems on the surface. You should be able to assess that on the map.”
I take the map and slide it into my satchel. “I’ll show it to the others. We’ll make a plan.” He nods but doesn’t move. I raise an eyebrow. “Is there something else?”
“The Valkyrie…she’s not like the rest of you.”
“No.”
“Her blood isn’t royal, and she’s not immortal.”
I shake my head. “She came here as our guide—a promise to the Guardians—to make sure we fulfill our mission.”
“Was there any question that you wouldn’t?” he asks.
I laugh and cross my arms over my chest. He eyes the size of my muscles. “We’re loyal to the Guardians, but our history is filled with destruction and bloodshed. Dylan is smart, he couldn’t risk any other alternative.”
“I’d keep an eye on the Valkyrie,” the Professor says. “This place, it’s filled with darkness and distraction. The other students will sense a weakness. They’ll know she’s different and possibly try to take advantage.”
My shoulders tense. “You think she’s in danger?”
“I think she’s beautiful and young and this place is filled with vipers.” His mouth is a grim line. “Keep her close and please try not to kill her during your demonstrations.”
I flinch. So he noticed. “Don’t worry, Christensen, we’ve got this under control.”
He nods and walks off, skepticism clear in his eyes, but clarity rings in my psyche.
Hildi needs us as much as we need her, and we’re going to have to get our shit together to make sure she’s safe.
