Gemma: A Mafia Forbidden Romance - Page 18

Maybe I’ll get the office…

“Go to lunch.” He tells Edie, “I’m heading out to meet a client. Gem can watch the office.”

“Don’t I get lunch?” I pout. “I’m working too.”

He shoots me a look, we both know I’m not working. He doesn’t even try to give me work, as long as I get up and come here he leaves me alone for the most part. Edie will offer me simple tasks if I look bored, but she also doesn’t give me much.

“Okay,” Edie says, she stands hoisting her purse onto her shoulder. “I won’t be long Miss Gemma.”

I smile sweetly, but I don’t really give a fuck how long she takes, I’ll probably take an Uber home in an hour and pretend I’m sick.

My bed is calling.

Gio made good on his promise to get me weed, it wasn’t a lot but enough for me to fall into a peaceful bliss for a little bit.

“I’ll be back, Gem.” Dad presses a kiss to my forehead and follows Edie out of the office.

I’m still scrolling through my phone with my feet propped up when the door opens a few minutes later, causing the bell attached to make an obnoxious jingling. “Everyone’s at lunch.” I call out, not bothering to lift my gaze.

I don’t bother with the clients. Greeting them, helping them, anything with people I avoid completely.

“Not you.” The voice is deep, and it seeps

over me seductively.

I lift my gaze to meet the deep blue eyes belonging to the man in front of me.

Liam.

He looks good, maybe even better than he did a week ago. He has a light blue button up on with the sleeves rolled to his elbows. The top few buttons are undone exposing a bit of his chest hair over more tattoos that I can’t quite make out. He has a pair of dark fitted jeans tucked into low brown boots.

“Not me.” I repeat, nearly in a whisper. Why does this man take my breath away when he shouldn’t. When I shouldn’t want him at all.

He chuckles.

“Gemma fucking DelGado, you know, I can’t get you out of my mind.” He stalks toward me until he’s on the other side of my desk which acts as a flimsy barrier between us.

I drop my Converse clad feet to the floor and sit up straighter to look at him.

He’s sinfully handsome. The beard, the tattoos, the muscles rippling down his arms. I think of myself in the shower after I got home last Friday and I feel the heat rising to my cheeks.

“‘I love that.” His lips turn up into a smile. “You blushing for me, Baby girl.”

The nickname ignites a fire between my thighs, and I still haven’t spoken more than two words to the damn man since he waltzed into the office.

“What are you doing here?” It hits me suddenly that he’s in my dad’s office, my dad who could return at any moment. My father doesn’t frequently carry a gun, but I know he has one in this building. If he walked in here and saw Liam with me… he would shoot first, ask questions later.

“Came to see you.” He shrugs.

“Why? My dad, he’s—”

“Gone.” Liam cuts me off. “He left, he probably won’t be back for an hour or more. He goes every day at this time. Secretary, too, she’s probably heading to her house. She’ll eat lunch and won’t be back here for at least an hour. So we have time, baby.”

My jaw drops. “You’ve been watching us.”

A small smile rises on his lips. “Yeah, baby, I’ve been watching you.”

“Why?”
