She never tired of them kissing her hands the way they did. It made her feel special. “Guys, I’m along for the ride. Alessandra was right. This is a business trip. Your time is precious, no doubt, and you want to pick the best locale for your new restaurant. Don’t change your plans on my account. How many properties are you going to tour?”
“Twelve.” Roberto stroked her hair. “And you’re not just along for the ride. We actually could use your expertise on real estate, mi amor.”
“I don’t know anything about how commercial properties are sold in Spain.”
Miguel squeezed her hand. “But you do understand more about where a business needs to set up a new location to get the most customers, don’t you? You’re the one who got that new Italian chain five buildings in Dallas, right?”
“Seven, if you count the two in Oak Cliff.” She grinned. “I’ll help you any way I can. I owe you that much, at least.”
“Sweetheart, you don’t owe us anything,” Roberto said.
The fatigue of the day made her yawn. “Excuse me. I guess the wine did relax me. Thanks, guys. If you don’t mind, I’ll lean my seat back for a little bit and try to sleep.”
“Camille, there is a bedroom on this plane.” Miguel stood, offering his hand to her. “I forgot we haven’t shown you around the plane, but we can do that later. Right now, Roberto and I need to get you into bed so you can get some sleep.
“That sounds fabulous, and that will give you time to work with Alessandra.” She took his hand and left her chair. This is your chance, Alessandra. You better take advantage of it, though it won’t do you any good. She laughed. Cami, you’re being just as immature as she is.
“What’s so funny?” Miguel asked as they entered the bedroom with Roberto.
“Nothing. Just happy.” She crawled into the comfy bed.
Roberto pressed his lips to hers. “I’m happy, too, sweetheart.”
“So am I,” Miguel said, kissing her tenderly. “Sleep well, mi amor.”
Chapter Fourteen
Miguel kept his arm around Cami as they walked through the hotel lobby to the front desk.
“My God, is every building in Spain this beautiful?”
“Most of them,” he answered. Her excitement was contagious. Seeing Madrid through her eyes renewed his and Roberto’s love for the city.
The manager greeted them in Spanish. “Welcome. Do you have a reservation?”
He answered him, also in Spanish, “Yes, sir. Three rooms for Sanchez Restaurants, Inc. Thank you.”
“I’m sorry, sir, but we only have two suites under that name. A double and a single. I have a message for you. It came in by fax just an hour ago.” The man handed him an envelope on the hotel’s stationary.
Alessandra stepped up. “I told you, guys, that I would have trouble booking Ms. Anderson at our hotel. They were full, so I booked her at the hotel across the street.”
Holding the envelope, he looked at Roberto and saw he felt the same way about this situation. No way were they going to let Cami be far from them. “Alessandra, check with the other hotel to see if they have three rooms.”
“Sir, we have rooms. We are not booked up.”
Alessandra frowned. “You were when I spoke to your representative.”
“Miss, I am not sure who you spoke with, but we haven’t been booked up for over a month. This is not our peak season.”
“Is everything okay?” Cami asked in English.
“Yes, everything is fine.” Alessandra frowned. “I had a plan, guys. Things got messed up. What’s done is done. I don’t see a problem.”
“You’re right. There is not a problem,” Roberto stated, and turned to him. “Miguel, you agree. No problem.”
He knew what his brother w
as getting to. “I completely agree. Alessandra. Since you booked the other room you’ll be staying there.”
