Tamed by Texans (Doms of Destiny, Colorado 5) - Page 33

“There’s more in the car,” the woman told him.

“I’ll get them.” Matt pulled out several outfits on hangers.

“And you must be Jena.” Mrs. Knight walked up to her and gave her a hug just like Erica, Dylan’s wife, had. Seemed like everyone from this town liked to hug strangers.

“Mrs. Knight, this is too much. I could’ve worn what I have on to shop for clothes. The guys shouldn’t have asked you to do this.”

“First, please call me Megan. Second, this is my pleasure. Why don’t we go inside and see if these clothes fit you? We look to be about the same size, so I’m betting they will. What size shoe do you wear?”

“Seven.”

“Same as me. Perfect.”

They headed into Matt and Sean’s house. The guys were loaded down with Megan’s offerings.

“Where’s the best place to try these on?” Megan asked.

“Back there.” Matt pointed to the bedroom where Jena had spent the night with him and Sean. “It’s got a full-length mirror.”

“Excellent. You two cowboys stay out here,” Megan told them.

Jena thought she was so down to earth. Except for the designer clothes she wore, it was hard to believe she was engaged to billionaires.

The guys piled the clothes on the bed and left her and Megan alone.

When the door closed, she turned to the gift giver. “Really, I can’t thank you enough, but I only need one outfit. You have at least seven here.”

“Actually, thirteen, but who’s counting?” Megan sat on the bed. “Let’s see what you look like in this red dress.”

“I see arguing with you is a losing battle.” She liked the woman very much.

“You’re right about that, Jena.” Megan smiled. “My two fiancés have spoiled me rotten. I’m on my third closet already. I will never miss any of these.”

“Wow. You must feel like a princess.” Jena slipped into the red dress and saw the tag dangling from it. “This is brand new.”

“See. I have at least five red dresses already. God, you look gorgeous in it. The fit looks perfect. How does it feel?”

She turned to the full-length mirror and gasped. Never had she worn such a lovely thing in her life. Growing up, she’d been more of a tomboy, comfortable in jeans and a shirt in her dad’s garage. She’d had gowns before that her dad bought her for the dances and proms at school. Even in college, he’d set her up with quite a wardrobe. Her family had been well off back then, but nothing like Megan and her men were. Daring another glance at the tag, her jaw dropped.

“I see that look in your eyes,” Megan said. “I’ve had it myself before. Give a girl a break and take these clothes off my hands. It would take me a year to go through all the new stuff Scott and Eric have bought me if I only wore them one time each. I can’t blame them. I actually do love shopping myself.”

“It’s been ages since I went shopping,” she confessed.

“This is a beautiful town but I promise you can’t get everything you need here, Jena.”

“It doesn’t look like I need anything if I agree to keep the treasures you’ve brought me today.” She slipped on some heels, which were from another top designer.

“You are keeping them. I’m putting my foot down about that. Try this green blouse on. It will make your eyes pop.” Megan handed her the top. “Besides, it would be fun to have you go with some of my friends on our monthly shopping spree in Denver.”

Megan’s sunny demeanor was infectious. Jena had never had a girlfriend before, but Megan was the kind of woman who would be perfect for that role. What were her friends like? But I’m leaving in a few days. My kind of life doesn’t allow me to have friends.

“That looks great on you, Jena. Perfect for shopping.” Megan smiled. “Let’s get your guys’ opinions on this.”

Your guys? She didn’t correct Megan, enjoying the fantasy of the moment.

Standing in front of Matt and Sean, she twirled around. “So? What do you think?”

“You’re the most beautiful woman we’ve ever seen in our life,” Sean said. “No offense, Megan.”
