Hope sprang up like a fountain.
Her heart thudded even faster in her chest.
She couldn’t scream, but she must make noise.
How?
They’d tied her up so that she couldn’t kick or move. All she could do was moan as loud as possible.
Please let them hear me.

6:36 p.m. – Friday, city limits, Destiny, Colorado
Cameron Strange drove across Silver Spoon Bridge into Destiny, his hometown. He was cutting his two-week vacation short. Seven days on his solo fishing trip had done the trick. He was ready to get back to work.
It was late. Approaching seven.
With another seven days left of his leave, his schedule was clear the rest of the week. No hearings. No depositions. Nothing. He’d head to his office at TBK in the morning after a good night’s sleep.
Hell, I could check my messages now.
His phone was dead.
He pulled into Phase Four’s parking lot to hook his cell up to the car charger. He couldn’t help but grin, knowing everyone at the company, including his brother Dylan, saw him as a workaholic. He was, of course. Work filled his days. There was no one special in his life, no significant other. Why not work?
There’d been one woman that pulled his thoughts away from his job and got him hard in a split second.
Erica.
God, she was unbelievably sexy. The beautiful woman had suffered so much guilt. He was glad that Dylan was coaching her on self-defense. Before the incident at work, where she and others were held at gunpoint, Erica had always sported the most enchanting smile he’d ever seen. Lately, no smile came from her perfect lips. All he’d seen was a heart-wrenching sadness in her eyes.
His office was on the floor below hers. Being the copresidents’ personal assistant, Erica’s desk was on the top floor.
As the juice went into his cell’s battery, bringing it back to life, the number of texts he’d received was over one hundred. Not unusual after being away for so long. What was unusual to him was the person who’d sent five of the messages.
Dylan.
Cam and his brother were tight. He knew Dylan better than anyone. Dylan didn’t send multiple texts. One. That was all. Then his brother waited patiently for a response.
Cam clicked on the last message from Dylan and his jaw clenched.
Erica has been kidnapped.

Dylan was glad to see the text from Cam that had just popped up on his cell’s screen. “Cam’s in town. He cut his vacation short. He’s headed here now.”
“We can use all hands on deck,” Jason said.
Time was ticking away and every second was like a bullet to Dylan’s gut.
Erica was gone and in danger.
Emotions blasted through him like a storm. Images of her being tortured and raped floated in his mind over and over. The next horrific vision had him curling his hands into tight fists.
