“Take care of our daughter.” Lucas’s blue eyes hold back pain and determination. The sand swirls faster and faster, and Lucas sprints forward, picking up Famine’s rusty set of scales.
“No!” I scream again, sending a shockwave of energy into the night. Lucifer tightens his hold on me as Osiris appears, right as Lucas swings himself into the saddle of Famine’s black horse.
The power comes from the horse, not the rider.
Lucas’s body shudders, and a darkness passes through him. I scream again, breaking free from Lucifer’s hold on me. But it’s too late.
Lucas has become one of the Four Horsemen.
