Razor's Edge (Underworld Kings) - Page 38

“Happy Birthday, baby! You only turn eighteen once.”

She closed her eyes as she blew out the flame.

“What’d you wish for?” I asked her. I grabbed her fingers under the table.

Ellison opened her gorgeous eyes and smiled at me.

“A night I’ll never forget,” she said.

There’s a reason they say be careful what you wish for.

Chapter 25

ELLISON

When Calvin switched on the lights, they powered up with a loud noise and bathed the entire showroom in a light so bright it’s blinding. I almost felt like people would pop up from behind the bikes and shout, ‘Happy Birthday!’ But instead, Calvin’s arms wrapped around me from behind. I could feel his hardness through his jeans and I brushed my butt back and forth across him to let him know I felt it.

“Do you think having the lights on will call attention to us?”

“Probably. We can turn them off. But there’s no in between. Either it’s bright, or pitch dark. Take your pick. If I turn them off it will be hard to see.”

“And you disabled the alarm and the cameras?”

“Yes, El. But if you’re second guessing, let’s not take our chances.”

Cal was right. He’s unbelievably patient and steadfast in his loyalty to me. When I told my girlfriends he didn’t pressure me, they questioned whether or not he’s really from the same planet as the rest of them. Human boys that is—apparently they’d stick their dick in anything just to say they did it. But my Cal wasn’t like that. He’s willing to wait until marriage if that’s what it took. But I was at the point that I knew he’s it for me. He’d be the man I marry and the one I shared my life with. Calvin was the biggest gift I’d been given in this life.

After my brother Adler’s passing, there were times where I didn’t think I’d be able to escape the darkness that seemed to shroud every aspect of my life. But Cal came and changed all that. He had his own demons to deal with and our baggage made us even more compatible. He wasn’t perfect and neither was I, we’re just perfect for one another.

I was tired of waiting, tired of listening to the other girls talk about sex and not having a point of reference. Cal probably wanted it to be perfect, a wedding night, our new bedroom in a house we bought together—something ideal. I, on the other hand, thought the showroom was exciting. Not many people could say they popped their cherry in a Harley Showroom.

I ran my hand along the leather seat and put my high heel on the shiny chrome foot peg and thought about straddling it. For some reason the idea turned me on even though bikes in our family were an unspoken taboo.

“Should I cut them?” Cal asked.

I whipped around and he was standing under the bright lights, so illuminated it looked like high definition. His button-up shirt, his tousled hair with a touch of gel in it, hands shoved into his pockets. This year he’d started getting serious about plans, what we’d do when we left South Vale, whether or not he’d go to college.

I swung a leg over and straddled the bike, I couldn’t resist. Smiling at Calvin, I leaned forward like I’d seen them do when they raced away down the street. My tits nearly spilled out of my dress. I giggled and licked my lips.

Cal put one leather booted foot up on the raised platform of the showcase, he crossed his arms and watched me closely.

“You look so fucking sexy up there, El. I don’t know if my heart or my dick can take all this stress you’re putting on it.”

“Come up here, I’ll de-stress you.” I crooked a finger and beckoned him closer. Cal wasn’t just my boyfriend. He’s pretty much the hottest guy I’d ever seen in my life. Even if he wasn’t mine, I’d still have admired from a distance. His broad shoulders and the way his shirt stretched across them, how the fabric pulled on his pec muscles and where his strong biceps challenged it. His full lips, that sinful tongue, the bit of scruff on his chin that he couldn’t be bothered with. Bright green eyes that were attentive and curious, that followed me everywhere I went and were always looking out for me.

“Put that body away baby girl, before I destroy it.” He licked his lips and looked away over his shoulder. I could see the bulge in his pants from the torture I’d put him through.

“Calvin, turn off the light and come up here with me.” I was determined for this night to be the night. My eighteenth birthday-present to myself. I wanted it over, deposited, and done. I was sure it’s just a vestige of my past, but sometimes I was afraid of dying before I gave myself to Cal. Or of something terrible happening and giving it to someone else. After the incident with his dad, I felt like we could never be too careful. I wanted Cal to be the one who broke me and claimed me, once and for all, for himself.
