Chalk Dirty to Me (Madd CrossFit 3) - Page 13

Or his trainer.

Whatever the hell she was called.

“So you decided to fuck an accomplice to a murder.” Brianna hummed, her eyes dark and cool. “At least she’s pretty, so I can see how you lost your head.”

I gritted my teeth.

Will growled under his breath and walked past her, ignoring her remarks.

At least, I thought he was ignoring her remarks.

Only when he was blocking me all the way did he say, “Get that shirt on, honey.”

I did, pulling it on so fast that I didn’t have a chance to look at what the front of it said before it was on and sliding down the length of my thighs.

“You know that those are department issued, right?” Brianna said the moment that Will stepped aside, revealing the shirt. “Nobody besides an actual police officer is supposed to be wearing them. We don’t want her getting popped for impersonating a police officer.”

“I hardly think that the chief will give a flying fuck, nor think she’s trying to impersonate a police officer, when she’s only wearing my tee, Brianna,” Will growled defiantly. “Why are you here again, walking into my house like you own it?”

Will caught me up against his side, then offered me my coffee cup, that was at the perfect temperature now.

Wanting to pull my gaze away from Brianna’s hard glare, I brought the cup up to my mouth and took a sip, temporarily losing her eyes.

I was unable to stop the little moan at the way the flavor of the coffee hit just the right spot going down.

Brianna growled at my moan.

Will’s hand tightened around my waist, pulling me in so tight to him that there wasn’t a single inch of space between us.

“I’m here because I saw your truck at that bar outside of town, and thought I’d offer you a ride back to it, and you didn’t answer the door,” she lied.

I rolled my eyes.

“You didn’t knock,” I found myself saying. “I have very good hearing, and not once did you make it known that you were here.”

“I knocked,” she lied again, looking away and focusing once again on the man that was currently running circles along my hip bone.

I took another sip of coffee, praying for patience.

“You didn’t knock,” Will disagreed, his hand sliding a bit downward.

I froze, unable to concentrate on the situation at hand, and the way his hand was moving at a downward path.

I wasn’t sure he knew what he was doing, moving his hand toward my ass, but I sure the hell did.

And I was conflicted.

On one hand, I loved it.

Absolutely, one hundred percent, loved having his hand on me.

Then, on the other hand, I hated it.

I hated that he was touching me—and that I hated it.

I hated myself.

I hated how I couldn’t quite get past that mental block.

But, when I thought he would go lower, he stopped, running his hand along the length of my panties right above my ass for a few short seconds before coming back up to curl around my hip bone.

I took a sip of coffee with shaky hands.

I’d almost downed nearly the entire cup.

“Thanks for the offer for a ride,” Will continued as if I hadn’t stiffened up completely in his arms. “But I have a way there.”

She sniffed and curled her arms across her chest.

“Walking?” she asked. “You’ll never get there in time.”

I looked at Will who was now glaring at Brianna. “That’ll be all, B. Thanks.”

Brianna didn’t pretend not to take the hint.

With a growl of frustration, she turned on her heels and stomped out of the room.

The front door slammed with a resounding thud, leaving the rafters shaking in her wake.

Will sighed before turning to me. “Brianna will likely never let this go.”

I swallowed at his closeness, my heart rate picking up speed as if it was preparing for flight.

But before I could do anything hasty, like have a panic attack in the man’s kitchen, he backed away and went to the pot for a refill.

“You want more?” he asked.

I swallowed, then held out my cup. “Of course.” I paused. “Where do you have to be?”

He sighed as he filled my cup to just the point of spilling over.

“CrossFit,” he answered. “I won’t make it. But I’m fine with it. I’m allowed to take rest days.”

I looked at my watch. “What time did you have to be there?”

“Ten minutes ago,” he snickered. “I like to get there early and stretch out before the class. By the time we would get to the car, I would have to be arriving at class to start. I’m not about that rushed life, and I could use a rest day to recover from drinking so much last night. I’m not that young anymore.”

I scoffed. “You’re what, thirty?”

His lips twisted up at the corners. “Thirty-seven.”

My mouth fell open. “What?”

“Thirty-seven,” he repeated. “Just turned it three days ago, actually.”
