“I’m almost ready.” Eve peeks her head out, a huge smile on her face, and my heart aches. I almost reach to rub it, but we need to get moving, so I motion f
or her to wrap it up.
She rolls her eyes and goes back into the bathroom. “I wish you would tell me what time our flight leaves. It would be so much easier.”
Christ, she’s not going to be thrilled about my last-minute plan to ditch Hawaii and take her a hundred miles away into the woods. I reach up and grab the top of the doorframe so I can do one of my favorite things: watch my wife get ready.
“Jason.” She smiles, her eyes sweeping my body, which causes her cheeks to flush. I can’t help but grin. We’ve been together four years and my badass Angel still blushes.
She breaks my stare and unwraps the towel around her wet hair, tossing it into the hamper. She’s a fucking vision. Her long, tan legs glisten with water droplets, which make me want to drop to my knees and lick them on the way down to her honey core. Her exquisite face is the picture of health and happiness. It’s what drives me. Makes me get up in the morning. Every day is a good day if I wake to see her face right next to mine.
Reaching down, I adjust my cock and breathe through my nose, inhaling her warm coconut smell, which always makes me lose my mind. I need to focus. My eyes travel up and down her naked form. It’s a good thing we don’t have a plane to catch. She’s far from ready.
Eve smirks at me as she brushes her long, wet, golden hair. Her breasts are so full and juicy I’m at war with myself. Am I in that much of a hurry? I mean, we can fuck fast.
Instead, I push off the doorframe. “We’re late.”
“I’ll only be a minute. I’m so excited.” She flashes me a smile that gives me a twinge of guilt.
Christ, she thinks we’re going to Hawaii. I’ll make it up to her, but there’s too much shit going on for us to go far.
“It’s crazy.” She turns to the fogged-up bathroom mirror. “Like I feel guilty leaving the kids because I love them so much. You know I do, but”—she slathers on some of her delicious-smelling body lotion—“I absolutely know they’re in the best hands. Charlie’s the best mother in the world and David is the best d—”
“Watch it.”
She laughs. “Stop it.” She rolls her eyes. “I mean, they have a loving family around them along with their cousin.”
I don’t know if she’s trying to convince me or herself, but my chest hurts at how much I love her. She straightens up and looks at me through the mirror. “Right?” She smiles again and tosses the lotion in her makeup bag.
I step in and reach for her, tilting her chin up so that she can see the truth in my eyes.
“Everything is fine. Now get dressed.” I can’t help myself and lean down, capturing her lips.
The loud vibration of the phone in my back pocket breaks the spell that Eve seems to cast on me daily, forcing me to pull back. I need to get my head in the game. After all, there’s a reason we’re not going to Hawaii.
“You have nothing to worry about. Our children are beyond safe with David.”
Her beautiful blue eyes sparkle and suddenly, she cocks her head. “Wait. What does that mean?”
“It means, it’s time to go, Angel.” I give her a love swat on her amazing ass as she twirls and screams. My phone starts to vibrate again, so I say over my shoulder, “I’m taking our bags out.”
“Okay, give me two minutes.”
Looking down at my phone, I expect to see a text from Axel. Instead, I have to fight the eye roll.
Dewey: Just making sure Eve is okay. She wants to go to Hawaii. Then a smiling sun emoji appears.
I debate whether to respond. Dewey is ridiculous with my wife and kids. But I know he would die for them so for that reason I text back.
Me: Don’t worry about Eve. Concentrate on guarding James and Nicole.
Dewey: They R happy playing with Zack. Sad face emoji. Then the dots appear followed with: Eve really wants to go to Hawaii.
I almost type no shit with the middle finger emoji. I don’t because I’m the president and I feel shitty enough. Why add Dewey to my list of guilt?
I type back: She’ll be fine. I’ll check in later.
As I pocket my phone, I do another look around. Hopefully, we won’t have to be gone long. I need Axel to do this cleanly and quietly.
