“So why did you break it off with Syn?”
Blowing out a breath, she looked down at her hands as she played with the bottom of her dress, flashing thigh and more of what lay beyond.
Lord, give me strength.
“The real reason Syn and I broke up was because...well, because, I’m in love with someone else.”
“You are?” He swallowed the lump in his throat, wondering why that statement made his chest hurt. He was stunned when a smile graced her perfect lips.
“I’m in love with you, King.”
He felt the grin spread over his lips and he wrapped his hand around her nape, pulling her close. He kissed her nose, the side of her mouth and each side of her neck, flicking his tongue over her carotid. It hammered against her flesh, the pulse increasing by the second. Her hands came to rest on his shoulders, her fingers digging into his skin possessively.
Olivia dragged him closer, their lips brushing once more. And then she was licking at the seam of his mouth and he opened for her as she straddled his waist and ran her fingers through his hair.
Easing away from her, he cupped her face and ran his thumb over her full bottom lip. “You’re sure?”
“So sure, King, but…”
“What if it doesn’t work?” he drawled, reading her expression because he knew her that damn well.
She nodded, biting her bottom lip. Christ, it drove him crazy when she did that.
“I can’t lose our friendship.”
“We won’t. I promise you.” He took her hands in his. “You mean way too much to me to fuck it up.”
“You mean too much to me too, but what about your job?” she whispered.
He ran his knuckles down her cheek. So soft. “We’ll do long distance if you want? We’re strong enough for that.”
She glanced down, shielding her face from view. “Or I could come with you?”
His grin was fierce. “You’d do that?”
“I think I’d follow you anywhere, King Fraser.”
“And I would lay the world at your feet, Olivia Wolfe.”
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders once more, playing with the hair at the back of his head. “Maybe we need to do that whole kissing thing again.”
His brow rose. “Oh?”
She shrugged. “You know, just to confirm that this is what I want too.”
Grinning, he pulled her close.

Olivia let her hands roam down his shoulders, her fingers undulating over the hard planes of his pecs, skimming down his abdominals. When she reached the hem of his shirt, she hesitated for a moment before running her fingers underneath the fabric and tugging it up. Panting slightly, King sat forward, his eyes on her face the whole time. Pulling the shirt up over his head, she let out a shuddering breath as she looked over his bronzed body. He sucked in a hiss when she scraped her nails over his skin, his lungs expanding his chest with each heavy breath.
She’d seen him naked a lot over the years, mostly while they were shifting and once when she and Jasmine caught him skinny-dipping when he was fourteen, but this was different. There was intimacy here now and she planned on exploring every hard inch of it.
Beside his body, his hands were balled into fists, his fingers pumping in agitation.
“Are you...are you regretting this?” she asked in a whisper.
“Why would you say that?” he asked in a rough voice.
