Shattered Vows (The Denton Family Legacy 2) - Page 35

She didn’t knock, and opened the door slowly. Abel was leaning over the bed, a nightlight on, and in his hands, he held a book. One of his hands was beneath the sheet, and she was sure he looked relieved for it to be her.

“Hi,” she said.

“Hi, babe, what’s wrong?”

Harper moved to the side of the bed, and she noticed that he moved his hand across his body.

Shaking her head, she smiled at him. “I—I don’t want a divorce, or an annulment.”

He turned, putting the book down, and something away in the top drawer beside his bed. Abel switched the main light on, and sat up.

“Can I sit?” she asked.

“Of course.”

She sat down, drawing her leg up. “I don’t want a divorce. I want to give this a try. You and me, us. I know it’s kind of crazy because neither of us knows all that much about the other, and I’ve been a complete bitch.”

“No, you haven’t.”

“I have. Honestly, you’ve been nothing but nice to me, and showing me how good you can be. Me, I’ve pushed you away, been cold, and that’s not who I am. I promise. I can be warm, and good, and nice. You can ask my friends.”

He took hold of her hand, and she loved it when he locked their fingers together. There was something deeply possessive about his hold on her. “You mean the world to me, Harper. I know it creeps you out when I say that, and it doesn’t seem real. What I feel for you, I’ve never felt for another person. I swear. You’re it for me. The woman I want for the rest of my life, to build a famil

y with you.”

She smiled. “I’d like that as well. Will you give me a chance?”

“Always. You never have to ask. Whatever you want, whenever you want it. Just ask, and I’ll give it to you.”

Harper nodded. “Can I sleep here tonight? I’d like to sleep next to you.”

“Can I hold you?” he asked.

“Maybe.”

“No maybe about it. I want to hold you.”

“I thought you said I could have anything I wanted.”

“You can, providing I get a little something out of is as well.”

She laughed. “You, Mr. Denton, can hold me.”

He pulled the covers up, and she slid in beside him. Laying her head on the pillow, she took a deep breath, forcing herself to be calm as his arm lay across her stomach, pulling her against him. Her ass nestled against his groin, his dick making his presence known.

“You don’t worry about him. All I want to do is hold you.”

She chuckled. “He likes attention.”

“He likes you.”

“I can’t believe we’re talking about your penis.”

“Dick, baby. Penis sounds like I’m in high school,” he said, kissing the back of her neck.

“How many kids do you want?” she asked.

“Hundreds.”
