Best Friends Forever - Page 78

“Colt!” I moaned again as I arched in full ecstasy.

He reached around to my behind and gripping it hard thrust one last time, deeper than anyone has ever gone before.

We both held still as he released his seed into me.

Slowly he lowered me down and rolled to the side, still holding me in his arms. He laid there a few minutes looking me over, brushing the hair from my face. I could do nothing but stare back.

Finally, he slowly slipped out of me and readjusted and zipped his pants. He reached down to where I had tossed his shirt and wrapped it around me.

Slipping my arms into the warmth of his shirt I snuggled up close on his still bare chest. I felt him kiss the top of my head as I steady my breathing to the slowing beats of his heart.

I had never felt to utterly spent in my entire life. Without even noticing I closed my eyes and slipped into a deep sleep.

Chapter 7

Colt

The sun on my face woke me, and I knew immediately that something wasn’t right. What was I doing outside?

Oh yeah, I thought as the memory of last night came rushing back.

I didn’t even have to open my eyes to know Meredith was still curled up next to me, her back pressed against my chest and my arm thrown protectively around her. I was still shirtless, having wrapped it around Meredith for warmth. I looked over the lines of her soft skin, barely covered in my shirt. Her hair was wild and splayed everywhere. I debated waking her with another rendition of last night.

I felt her begin to stir in my arms, but only long enough to turn over to face me. She was still fast asleep, giving me the chance to really look at her. Her auburn lashes lay long against the top of her cheeks, and I thought back to her crisp blue eyes that almost seemed exotic when matched to her skin tone. Most redheads I'd met had pale white skin and adorable freckles, but not Meredith. Her skin was almost golden cream, and there were only the faintest traces of light brown dotting the bridge of her nose.

She had always been in the “buddy’s baby sister” zone which meant even considering something like this with her was beyond off limits. After seeing her lying below me last night, her creamy skin rocking against mine, she would never be in that zone again. I should have felt something like guilt, but I couldn’t manage to find even a trace of it. In fact all I was pulling up was the need to taste her again.

I brushed to back side of my hand against her cheek again. What was she going to think when she woke up here in my arms?

You screwed up, cowboy, I thought, the anxiety welling up inside me. There was no way Meredith wasn’t going to regret this the moment she woke up. She did everything in her power to hightail it out of here last night, and then you went and seduced her.

If there was even a chance that she'd run away from me when she woke, I was going to savor every last second. I leaned closer and breathed in the scent of her hair, fully expecting some overwhelmingly girly fruit and flower combination. Instead, I was a little surprised by the earthy combination of rosemary and mint, a scent so perfect for someone like her. Meredith was the living embodiment of the country girl who grew up to be the cosmopolitan world traveler, and the confident scent suited her.

The last thing I wanted to do was wake her, but I couldn't resist one last feel of her soft skin. I ran the back of my hands, by far the less torn up and callused side, gently along her thigh, reliving the feeling of getting to touch every inch of her last night. She'd been so soft, her curves fitting precisely in my hands like they'd been made to go together.

I froze when Meredith shifted, then looked down at her upturned face. She barely opened her eyes, smiled, and whispered, “Huh, I could have sworn it was all a dream.”

“Dream? I’d have figured you'd think it was more like a nightmare?” I hinted quietly, I didn’t stop running my hand up and down her thigh though.

“The only nightmare is picturing how my hair must look,” she answered, laughing. “I don't wanna even think about how my makeup looks!”

“Honey, you’re as pretty as a sunrise.” I said, affecting a thick Texas drawl.

Meredith blushed slightly, biting her bottom lip. She nestled closer to my shoulder, so close I could feel her hair tickling my neck. I wrapped my arms around her more tightly, ignoring the way the metal chair frame dug into my side painfully. What was that old saying… something about a team of wild horses couldn’t drag me away?

“Whatcha thinking about?” she asked dreamily, already almost back to sleep. I couldn’t help but laugh as I whispered my reply.

“I was thinking about Bryant having me tarred and feathered, and wondering how long I’d have to get a head start when he finds out.”

Meredith laughed and slid her fingers up and down my torso.

“We are laying on your back porch wearing next to nothin’. I don’t think it’s a good time to mention my big brother,” she responded in the most Texan drawl I had heard from her thus far.

“Oh really? Then tell me, what would be romantic?” I asked as I slipped my hand up her thigh and gave her a little pinch on her behind.

She gave a little yip and batted me playfully.

“Well, I think I saw a shower big enough for two when I was taking pictures yesterday…” She looked up at me and smiled wickedly, and that was all the motivation I needed.
