Deadly Attraction

He smirked. Then his head dipped and his mouth went back to exploring her flesh, his lips and tongue skimming over the indentation of her rib cage to the inner swell of her breast.
“So soft and warm,” he breathed against her skin.
He left tantalizing, barely there kisses in his wake as he moved toward her puckered nipple.
“And so enticing…” He sighed before tenderly drawing the bud into his mouth.
Jade’s eyelids drifted closed. Her fingers were still tangled in his hair and the strands also brushed over her breast, sparking more intense sensations.
“I’m about to overdose on lust,” she said.
“That’s sort of the point.”
She giggled—a foreign sound to her ears. Jade was not the giggling type. Yet her lover had an uncanny way of stripping away the tension and the grief that had plagued her the majority of her life. There was something to be said for rising above those types of emotions, and she knew she’d formed a unique bond with the one man who could help her do just that when she was in his bed.
“Aren’t you the least bit interested in getting naked with me?” she asked. He still wore his leather pants, after all.
“Extremely.” But he continued his teasing, his tongue curling around her nipple, then flicking over it.
A long breath blew between her teeth. “You do the most amazing things to my body.”
“I’ve only just started.”
Exhilaration shot through her. “You have much more in mind?”
“Much.” He lifted his head again. “But you need to know that I can get you pregnant.”
“Not tonight,” she said, ignoring the odd mixture of nervous anxiety and curious elation his words sparked. “I count beads on a bracelet Lisette gave me long ago. Something called the Standard Method that she’d followed in the pre-war years for family planning.”
“Lisette has children?”
“No. Turns out her husband was infertile.” She eyed him a moment, then asked, “Do you have children?”
“No.” He gave her a contemplative look. “Perhaps someday.”
“Of course. What’s the rush? Not like you don’t have all the time in the world.”
“No, time’s definitely not the issue.”
He moved from the bed, leaving her with a gnawing sensation that piqued her interest. But she didn’t question him further. In fact, her mind went blank as she watched him remove his clothes. She sighed over his muscular physique and perfection. No human she’d ever seen—in real life or in books—compared to the beauty of him. Every inch from head to toe mesmerized her, particularly his long, thick shaft, which stood erect.
Her stomach flipped. A natural response.
He said, “Crawl under the covers. I don’t want you getting cold.”
“I’m burning up,” she said. “I now officially understand the term ‘hot and bothered’.”
She’d tasted his skin, felt his cock against her tongue. And while she’d derived an exorbitant amount of enjoyment from the sexual act she’d performed in the shower, she knew—from their dream and from the way Darien touched her in reality—that making love with him would far exceed the sexual bliss she’d already experienced.
Despite her internal temperature reaching the extreme red zone, she pulled back the thick duvet and the crisp, ecru-colored sheets. He settled in beside her, lying on his stomach to face her. Jade’s hands roamed his chest and stomach.
“Also for the record,” he said, “demons don’t carry venereal diseases.”
“Good to know. I hadn’t thought of that.”
“Not exactly sexy conversation, hmm?” he mused as his lips brushed her forehead.
“Something tells me that’s about to change.”
