The minute he pushed open the garage door, he realized his car hadn’t been moved. Robert scowled. He’d have to ask about that later too. Unhooking his bike from the wall mount, he ticked off a grocery list in his head. He could buy things for breakfast now and place a bigger order to be delivered later.

Robert shut the garage door and took off, the wonderful ache in his ass a sweet reminder of his extraordinary night as the crisp morning air filled his lungs. He was back, happy and complete, all because of the man who was currently lying in his bed; he gave him something to aspire to.

He’d fallen for Landon, fast. Considering the possibility that he was falling in love, or hell, was already in love, both excited him and confused him at the same time. But now he finally understood what his dad had meant when talking about his father. Avery had known from first sight that Kane was his. Robert might have been slower on the uptake. He’d been too lost to see Landon clearly while in Germany, but last night, from the second he’d watched Landon cross the street to him, he’d felt it. He’d known. The grin on his face broadened. Surely Landon had to be feeling this way too. Man, he felt amazing.

Landon opened his eyes and blinked once, staring at the bright spots dancing on the wall across the room. The partially drawn window shade let in the small amount of light that held his attention. There wasn’t that moment of uncertainty on where he’d spent the night. Landon knew exactly where he was and whose bed he was in. Thinking about Robert made him smile as he rolled to his back and stretched out his legs.

The wonderful memories of the night before rushed back. Happiness jolted him, shooting straight through his body. His dick filled at the vivid images flashing in his head—the way the length of Robert’s body seared his back as they’d slept, the feeling comfortable and grounding and fucking hot. It had been so long since he allowed himself to let go and trust another person. He couldn’t recall ever feeling this safe and this right with any man.

Landon didn’t even have the after-sex regrets that always plagued him as soon as he’d gotten off. Usually the condom hadn’t hit the trash can before he’d have his pants zipped and be searching for the door. But this… This was exactly what he wanted. It felt right to be in this bed, in this man’s room. Robert Adams had a hold on him. Everything would have been perfect had the doctor stayed in bed with him this morning.

But Robert wasn’t in the room. Landon realized that about the same time he smelled something fantastic and enticing in the air. It wasn’t just the smell of bacon that filled the room and made his stomach growl. A variety of scents melded together, creating a unique and delicious aroma, overloading his senses.

Landon pushed up on his elbow to check the time on the nightstand. Shit. He’d slept in this morning, not that he had much to do other than to sit in the PT center and make sure he was there for anyone needing anything done, but it was already seven forty-five. He was supposed to be at the facility by eight. He kicked off the covers and jumped out of bed, scanning the floor for his blue jeans to get his cell phone from the pocket.

Flashes of memory from the entryway and stairs flooded his brain—Robert pinning him to the wall, teasing him with deliberate drugging kisses. Those brief moments seared into his soul. He’d never been so needy and taken with another man. They had abandoned their clothes, in various places as they’d made their way to the bedroom. Surprisingly, he spotted his jeans draped over a chair along with his dress shirt. His shoes were neatly placed right underneath.

He shouldn’t be too surprised; thoughtful consideration fit the doctor’s personality to a T. Landon walked barefooted across the room, going straight for his cell phone in his back pants pocket. Standing in the room naked, he sent a text to the rehab facility, letting them know he’d be a couple of hours late. His stomach grumbled as the smells grew stronger. He gathered his clothes and headed to his room to take a quick shower.

Even with the aggravation of the cast, Landon made record time showering and dressing. He didn’t go for his ABUs. Instead, he wore a pair of jeans and an Air Force T-shirt, tugging it over his head while taking the stairs down two at a time. He heard music playing quietly in the kitchen and the homey sound of dishes being washed in the sink.
