I get back to the van just as Reaper is loading the last girl.
“How many did we get?”
I look to the back but am unable to get a head count.
“Eight,” Terror answers me.
“Close enough.”
Uno drives us to the warehouse, so we can put the girls in a holding cell Reaper and Boogeyman built to keep them in until we move them tomorrow.
Cupid, Boogeyman, and Reaper are staying at the warehouse to guard our cargo while Uno changes the plates on the van and gets it ready for tomorrow. He has to change out the decal and gas it up.
I’m going home to grab a shower and crawl in bed with my wife.
Sara
The prospects and Amber worked their asses off yesterday and they are coming back today to help me finish unpacking and getting the house baby proofed for CT.
I’m exhausted, and I don’t want to get out of bed. Danny however is up and getting ready to leave. Apparently, he has some club business to attend to.
I didn’t even feel him get in the bed last night. I’m not sure he has been to sleep.
Getting up, I go to the bathroom, wash my face, and brush my teeth.
I find him in the kitchen drinking coffee.
He already has his cut on and he’s trimmed his beard.
“Hey, did you even get any sleep last night?” I wrap my arm around his waist and take in the sexy scent of his leather and coffee.
“Bout two hours, I guess.” His voice is raspy.
“You need sleep.”
“I need to get on the road. I won’t be back till late. Zo Zo is supposed to drop your car off later. What are you getting into today? House looks good by the way.”
“Thanks. I thought about going over to the clubhouse with Amber after we finish up here and hanging with MaryAnn until you get back.”
“Make sure you wear your patch. Got a few members of the Born Sinners passing through this weekend. Don’t be drinking either. I don’t know when I’ll get back.”
“Okay.”
He kisses the top of my head and I flip the small kitchen TV on. The news is broadcasting something about a fire at a sorority house in Nashville.
“How awful,” I say more to myself as I read the caption at the bottom of the screen. Three girls died from smoke inhalation and several are being r
eported as missing.
I turn to pour myself a cup of coffee and Danny is frozen in place, watching the program.
I wave my hand in front of him. “Hey, you okay? You look like you have just seen a ghost.”
“Sorry.” He blinks. “Just tired.”
“Well you better rest up before tomorrow. CT will be here before you know it.” I grab a mug and get my caffeine fix.
“I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” He shoots me a smile, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes.
