Harley is mine.

I smoke another cigarette while we wait for Uno to get us what we need.

Terror pulls up a map on his phone.

Uno sends the coordinates and we decide we will find her a hell of a lot faster if we split up.

We each take three locations and decide we will meet back here in no longer than twenty-four hours if we come up empty or need to regroup to rescue her.

After gearing up we set out to our destinations, and I pray like a motherfucker that one of us finds her.

It takes me three hours to hike to my first destination. It appears to be the remnants of an old cabin that burned some years ago.

There’s nothing here but rotted wood. I poke around the area to be sure but there is nothing to indicate Harley has been here.

I only turn my phone on long en

ough to get directions to my next point of interest.

Mosquitoes are thick in the air as I get closer to water. There’s a waterfall nearby I had wanted to take Harley to. Now I may never have the chance.

I search the area and move on to the next. By the time I reach the third, it’s nightfall, and I am damn tired.

It’s a campground. Doesn’t appear to have been used in the last week or more. The ground hasn’t been disturbed outside of me poking around.

Feeling useless, I make the hike back to the camp and find Terror waiting for me.

“No luck I take it?”

“Nada. Came across a few campers. They haven’t seen anyone.”

“Figures,” I grunt.

“We’ll find her, man.”

I run a hand over my head as I flop down in the chair Harley was sitting in yesterday reading her magazine. It’s still laying on the ground where she left it.

“Here.” He reaches me a jar of moonshine and I take a hearty swig needing something to take the edge off. I’m anxious as a hell. I can’t stand basically sitting here doing nothing.

“You think Cocky found something?’

Terror shrugs. “If he’s not back by daybreak we’ll set out together.”

“I’m taking a nap. Wake me if there are any developments.”

“You really care about her, don’t you?”

“Yeah, brother. I do.”

“We’ll find her. And I wouldn’t sweat Cocky. He’ll move on soon enough.”

“I’m not worried. Harley’s mine. I know that. And she knows it too.”

“You claiming her?”

“Thinking about it once all this shit blows over.”

“Good for you. Never thought I’d see it happen.”
