Logan (Filthy Rich Alphas) - Page 27

“Well, now he can go stay in Ashley’s little messy studio.”

Silence hit us for a minute.

And then Logan slowly walked to the door. “I’m sorry about Ashley too. You’ve lost a boyfriend and a friend today.”

“After what we read, neither was ever a boyfriend or friend to begin with.” I opened the door. “It’s good that I found out now, instead of later.”

Logan stood in my doorway, towering over me. I thought about the things that Tyson had said in his book—the way Logan wanted me, the way he looked at me. Was it all true? I’d felt this insane pull towards Logan the very second I’d met him, but Tyson had shown interest while Logan had gone off to talk to Ashley.

Still, I could never ignore that pull between us, no matter how much I tried.

The more I hung around Logan, the more I found we had the same things in common from books to food, our love for travel, and this passion to just learn crazy shit.

Logan’s gaze rested on me and I felt safe.

His deep voice passed between those sexy lips. “I want to stay and make sure you’re good to go for this evening.”

No. You unbalance me. I wouldn’t be able to think with you alone in my apartment.

I almost said yes, but then like a coward I shook my head. “No. My brother will be here soon.”

“I could wait until he arrived.”

“No, Mr. Knight in Shining Armor. I’m good. Besides, with my brother’s mood, he’ll be in super protective mode. After a break up like this, he treats me like a crime scene, taping me off so no one can disturb the evidence, hovering over me as if analyzing the mystery.”

Logan smirked. “And does he ever find his killer?”

“Always, which is why I also call my savings account, Rob’s bail money .”

“Well, you won’t need any bail money tonight. Something goes wrong, call me no matter what.”

I saluted. “Yes, sir.”

“I’m serious. I don’t even want you dealing with Tyson from this point on.” Anger covered his face. “He had you to himself this whole time and. . .”

I parted my lips.

“And he didn’t treat you like the queen you are.” His voice lowered. “He didn’t cherish you.”

I looked away. “I also could have been smarter with how I handled it—”

Logan took my chin and moved my attention to him. “Don’t ever blame yourself for being lied to and mistreated. Never. I hear my sisters say that too much.”

I blinked.

“Men never do that.”

“What do you mean?”

“We never blame ourselves for being with a crappy women. We drop them, learn from it, and move on. I believe women internalize heartbreak more. They search for their ownership in it.”

“Shouldn’t we?”

“Not when it comes to Tyson.” Slowly, he moved his fingers from my chin. He looked like he wanted to say more, and the rage never left his face.

“Thank you for saying that.”

He studied my face. “Sometimes we all try to dissect shitty people and what they do to us. We hope to make sense of cheaters and despicable womanizers.”

I swallowed.

“But in the end, some evil bastards aren’t necessary to understand.”

“You’re right.”

“Are you sure you don’t want me to stay?”

“No. I’m just going to sit here and be depressed.”

“I could help with that.” He gave me a sweet smile. “I’m good at wiping tears, even better at healing any pain that a fuckboy has created.”

I gave him a sad smile. “Oh really?”

“There’s an art to it.” His gaze shifted to heated. “I’ve been known to provide helpful distractions.”

Lust feathered through me.

The way he said it, I doubted his distractions would be wholesome and sweet.

Still, I decided to push the point a little. “Distractions?”

“The sort that would make you forget about any fuckboy from your past. The kind that would make you even forget your name.” A wicked smile appeared. “You would be too focused on the pleasure of it all.”

Wow. No more good-boy Logan. He’s planning on shooting his shot.

I cleared my throat. “I’ve. . .always thought that it wasn’t a good idea to jump from one bed to another. It’s better to fully get over whoever first before—”

“Then, you’ve never done it.”

“Well. . .no.”

The wicked smile deepened. “Then, we’ll talk more about this once your brother and I have dealt with Tyson.”

“I don’t need you dealing with him. My brother is already going to—”

“I’m dealing with him too. Trust me. This is very personal for me too.” The anger on his face returned a little. “You don’t understand. . .I wanted you the first time I saw you. . .”

I widened my eyes.

“Not fighting Tyson to have you, will be one of the biggest regrets of my life.”

I didn’t know what to say. So much was being revealed. Tyson was a piece of shit, but he’d been right about one thing—Logan did like me.
