Hero (The VII Knights MC) - Page 35

“Tye? Hell no.” He sits on the bed, bending over to grab the plate.

“You sure about that? Because I think there’s an invisible leash around your neck you aren’t seeing.”

Dropping the dish to the floor, he stands up and struts over to me like a Viking, his every move determined and precise, until he’s right in front of me, darkness clouding his blue eyes. He’s going to grab me by the throat or hit me. I crossed a line saying he was owned by a woman.

His hand raises, and I wince. The soft caress across my sore cheek startles me and eases my tense muscles at the same time.

“She hit you,” he says, concern lacing his words.

“I’m fine,” I whisper. A slap to the face is better than Damian’s death grip around my neck. His thumb brushes the sting away, and I lose my breath. He didn’t strike me, he did something worse: he was nice to me. The walls I’ve built to protect myself crumble inside my chest. I grip his wrist to stop him, and our eyes lock. My gaze drops to his pouty lips, the urge to kiss him running through me.

Clearing his throat, his hand drops from my face, and he pulls from my grip. Head lowered, he flicks his chin, looking me up and down.

“When you’re ready, come out so we can discuss the Titans.” Without a second glace, he walks out of the bedroom, slamming the door shut behind him. Falling onto the bed, I let out a long, full body exhale.

A fight with a club whore and desiring man who can’t feel anything but the coldness of his own past isn’t good. I don’t know how I’m going to last two weeks.

Godric

“Godric, I’m telling you the truth. That girl just came at me like a crazy person. She’s a Titan. You can’t trust her!” Tye rushes out, her voice on the edge of hysterics. Beautiful blue eyes peer up at me from under her fake lashes.

I hear what she’s saying. And it makes sense. Monet did set us up, but when I talk to her one on one, I don’t get vindictive from her. Something inside me tells me Tye was the instigator here. It doesn’t matter either way. I need Monet. She’s the key to me taking down the Titans and taking the gavel.

Dropping my arm, I exhale and take a step back from Tye. This is why Dad always had Mom stay out of the club.

“Just stay away from her, Tye.”

She crosses her arms like a defiant child. I regret ever fucking around with this chick. She’s too much. I don’t know why Bellamy sent Tye in that room with breakfast. Monet is under my protection right now. I need her in one fucking piece.

“Are you seriously taking her side? She fucking punched me, Godric!” She points to the side of her head. Her ear is red, but I’m sure she had it coming. Either way, I don’t have time for this shit.

“Get her the fuck out of here,” I say to nobody in particular. I don’t want to deal with this bratty shit another second.

Hollywood slides off a stool, ushering Tye toward the front door. I love that he has my back on this.

“Come on. That’ll be enough high school for today,” he says to her, and Tye starts popping off at the mouth. Not wanting the headache, I head to the chapel, stopping short when my bedroom door opens down the hall. Monet steps out, searching around like a lost princess in a castle. My large shirt engulfs her, making her look cute. She faces toward me, and our eyes meet. The side of her face is red and angry. Fucking Tye. I cannot believe she went in there and hit her. My teeth grind. I want to drag that bitch in here by her hair just so Monet can slap her twice as hard.

“Want me to get her back in the room?” Pegs asks, breaking into my thoughts. Vision narrowing over my shoulder, I find him standing behind me, watching Monet as well. I shake my head and point toward the Chapel.

“In here,” I tell Monet. She crosses her arms and hurries down the hall. It isn’t until she’s next to me that I realize my hand is on the small of her back, ushering her toward the chapel. Her body against my palm has a foreign sensation pounding in my chest. Jerking my hand back, I step away from her entirely and go to the head of the table. The boys take their places, and Monet stands at the door, a lost expression on her face. Putting both my hands on the table, I interlock my fingers. Maybe I should just talk to her alone. Having the guys in here might be too much. Then again, it might be intimidating enough to get her to tell me everything I want to know about the Titans.
