“Daddy!” Megan breaks the spell. “Look what Logan found for me.” Megan comes running over. The twins shake their heads in unison. They find it Megan and Logan’s connection as funny as we do. Megan holds up an abalone shell. Logan stands behind her, his hands crossed over his chest all proud-like.
“It’s pretty.” Sammy reaches out and takes it from Megan.
“We should give to the baby, Logan,” Megan says to him. He nods as if to say whatever you want. She beams at him.
“That’s sweet, honey.” Sammy leans down and kisses Megan. Megan runs back off to the sandcastle with Logan hot on her trail.
“God, they are adorable,” Sammy says.
“Should we start planning the wedding?” Nikki asks. I take a long pull off my beer.
Nikki and Sammy start discussing it as if the wedding is happening next summer. Liam shakes his head but is smiling just as big as me. I rest back in my chair, listening to the laughter of our kids. My wife is in my lap, our baby in her belly, and she’s laughing with her best friend. Not a care in the world. There isn’t anything more I could ask for.
Life is perfect.
This island really is Destiny Island.
