You Drive Me Crazy (The Blackwells of Crystal Lake 2) - Page 25

“You know…” Carly carved off another hunk of cake. “You need to do something about that, or your hoo-haw just might seize up.”

“My what?”

“Your hoo-haw.”

Regan started to laugh. “Carly. Can we use big-girl words? It’s called a vagi—”

“Nope. I like hoo-haw. Sounds cuter.”

Regan made a face. “If you say so.”

“Seriously, Regs. You need to do something about your situation because you’re almost a virgin again.”

“Yeah. I know.”

“So what’s the problem?”

Regan looked at Carly as if she’d lost her mind. “Problem? You do remember what it’s like living here, right? There’s no one to date.”

“I call bullshit. I met a lot of new men last night. With all the folks moving to this area, the dating pool is one hundred percent better than when I lived here.”

“Then why did you hook up with Jarret and not one of these new guys?”

Carly shook her head. “Um, we’re not talking about me anymore. We’re talking about you.” Her eyes narrowed, and she pushed her plate of shortcake away. “And I’m still waiting to hear about your night. About why you left with Wyatt Blackwell.”

Regan’s mouth went dry, and her voice was small. “Oh. You saw that.”

“Sure did.”

“Who else noticed?”

“Pretty sure no one. You were there for like, five seconds.” She paused. “So…Wyatt Blackwell.”

Regan could only nod.

“I thought you hated him.”

“I don’t…exactly hate him.”

Carly whistled and dropped her fork. It hit the table with a clang and bounced until it fell to the floor. “Are you telling me that Wyatt Blackwell has somehow managed to do the impossible and melt through all that ice that’s encased your heart since, like, prom?”

“You’re being dramatic.”

“No.” Carly shook her head. “I’m not. They don’t call you the ice queen for nothing.”

“The what? People actually call me that?”

“Sorry to say, but they do.” Carly picked at a few crumbs on her plate. “I don’t even live here anymore, and I know that. So? Are you going to spill or what?”

Annoyed, Regan grabbed their plates and tossed them into the dishwasher. “Nothing happened, if that’s what you’re asking.”

“So he just gave you a lift home?”

“Not exactly.”

“Well, what the hell does that mean?” Carly was on her feet and crossing the room until she stood beside Regan at the sink.

Regan dropped a tab into the dishwasher and turned on the machine. She knew Carly, and she knew she wouldn’t be able to avoid the subject. Her best option was to just get on with it and spill. Besides, it wasn’t as if she had anything to hide.
