“I had a bad day at work and wasn’t feeling the dance. I didn’t want to be social and neither did Wyatt, so we left. We went back to the cabin he’s living in for now, and had some food and then we fell asleep.”

“You slept with him?” Carly squealed.

“No. God, no. It’s all innocent. We fell asleep, and he made me breakfast in the morning. Brought me home, and that’s all of it. There’s nothing else.”

Carly sighed, a dramatic sort of thing that brought a smile to Regan’s face. “Well, that’s too bad for your hoo-haw.” She paused. “Seriously, though, I thought you hated Wyatt Blackwell. Like since fifth grade.”

“Fifth grade?”

“Yes. When we were at Elise Martin’s birthday party and you went into the closet with him and he told the entire class he touched your boob.” Carly giggled. “I can still see how red your face was and how mad you were.”

“God.” Regan shuddered as the long-ago memory flashed before her. “I forgot about that.”

“So did he?”

“Did he what?”

“Touch your boob?”

Regan’s mouth dropped open, and then she laughed. “Of course he did, and I let him. I just didn’t think he’d announce it as soon as the door opened.”

“And then there was prom.”

Regan met Carly’s gaze. Carly was the only one who knew what had happened that night. Knew the extent of hurt and pain and humiliation Regan had suffered. Sometimes it seemed so long ago, and other times it felt as if the events of that night had only just happened.

She thought back to the night before and sighed. “I don’t hate him exactly.”

“So you don’t have a box of voodoo dolls with Wyatt’s name on it in your closet anymore?”

“Nope.” Regan shook her head. “We’re going on a date Thursday.”

“Nooooo.” Carly rolled her eyes.

“He’s picking me up at six.”

“So what made you change your mind about him?”

“I don’t know. He asked, and I said yes.” She sighed. “Maybe I’m tired of being alone. Tired of wine and Netflix. Tired of coming home from work night after night with only Bella for company.” She shrugged. “Not that anything will come of this. I just…I feel something when he looks at me. At first, I thought it was dislike.” She paused, a small frown on her forehead. “No it was dislike, but…there’s something more and I…”

“Your hoo-haw is calling to him.”

“My vagina doesn’t know how to speak.”

“Well, if it did, it would be telling you that you need to have sex with him.” Carly grabbed Regan’s hands. “You need to get down and dirty and get that hoo-haw of yours some action before it dries up and falls off.”

Her girlfriend was too much, and Regan hid a smile. “My hoo-haw is just fine, thank you very much, but I was kinda sorta thinking the same thing. I don’t really need to like the guy all that much to have sex with him.”

“Okay.” Carly nodded. “I like where you’re going with this.”

Emboldened at the thought, Regan plunged forward. “And he’s not staying in Crystal Lake. He’s only here for a little while until he heads back for NASCAR.”

“Yep. You’re a woman with needs. Go for it.”

Regan bit her lower lip, strangely excited, mind racing at the possibilities she’d never allowed herself to think about until now.

“It would strictly be sex with no strings.”

“Amen, sister.” Carly raised her hands into the air. “Hot sex with no strings.”
