“Aye,” she said, reaching down to take his hand as she stepped away from him. “I want to ride fast and hard.” She led him to an empty stall and turned a smile on him. “Do you think you’ll be able to keep pace with me?”
Ruddock laughed and scooped her up in his arms. “Another challenge, wife?”
“Are you up to it?” she asked teasingly.
“Always,” he said and brushed his lips across hers.
“I do so love you, husband,” Sorrell said, resting her hand to his face and running her thumb faintly over his lips.
He nipped at her thumb. “And I you, wife… always.”
“I’m impatient for that ride,” Sorrell whispered.
“Believe me, wife, when I tell you, it will be a ride you’ll never forget,” Ruddock said and stepped into the empty stall piled with hay, the shadows swallowing them up.
