Jake folded his arms over his chest. “What truth?”
“You will not like it,” Alessandra said.
Caleb flashed a cold smile. “Let us make the decision about what we will or will not like.”
Bianca cleared her throat. “My sister is simply trying to warn you that—”
“She warned us,” Travis said sharply. “Just get to it. What’s this truth that you think we won’t like?”
Matteo and Luca looked at each other. Then Matteo shrugged his shoulders.
“It is,” he said, “that we, the same as you, have the misfortune of being the sons and daughters of General John Hamilton Wilde.”
Beyond the ridge, the first group of fiery rockets shot into the black Texas sky and burst into a dozen glorious shades of pink, purple and blue.
