“So, where are the drugs, man?” Hollister asked as they drove down the interstate. “I hope you don’t need me to stress how bad things will get if Levi isn’t happy with the outcome.” Hollister honked at some poor soul that was probably driving a hell of a lot safer than it felt like Hollister was. Shit, he drove worse than Clay.

Clay.

Fuck, Indi’s mind shouldn’t have gone there.

Indi wondered if Clay roared down the road or if he was a calm, controlled driver like he was during sex…except for their last time together.

Fuck, his mind definitely shouldn’t have gone there.

“Levi’s a nice enough guy, but…well, you know, this is drugs we’re talking about. Oh, you know to keep your mouth closed if you do get caught, right? That whole snitches get stitches thing is true…except sometimes it’s more than stitches. Well, most the time.” Hollister rattled on as he continued to drive.

“Yeah, your boss is a real peach,” Indi answered sarcastically. “If you think he’s a nice enough guy, you need to change your circle of friends. The dude is an ass, through and through. He’s fucked up his life, your life, and now he’s fucking with mine.”

“Just tell me the drugs are safe. We’ll argue about Levi another time.”

“Don’t worry about the drugs. I Googled how to get drugs past airport security before we left. Everything’s cool.” Indi’s voice was laced with sarcasm.

“Can you seriously Google shit like that?” Hollister asked in disbelief.

Indi rolled his eyes. “I don’t know, Hollister. This is my first day as a criminal. I’ll be sure and check it out when we get back home.” Was this kid for real?

“I’m afraid you aren’t taking this serious enough.” Hollister admonished while blaring his horn at yet another car.

“Don’t really care what you’re afraid of,” Indi snipped. His head was beginning to throb and his stomach was rolling. “Are we almost there?” He was pissed to be involved but still couldn’t deny the adrenaline rush it was giving him.

“Pulling in now.” Hollister drove a couple more minutes and then the car stopped. “Be careful and keep your mouth shut when you get caught.”

“When? Thanks for your support, asshole,” Indi grumbled as he got out of Hollister’s car. Sky leapt from the backseat to the front and was quickly by his side. “Forward, Sky. Door.”

Fifteen minutes later, Indi was smack in the middle of a shit-show. He’d expected nothing less. “I don’t understand the problem, sir.” Indi could hear the airport’s drug dog going crazy, barking and snarling in his and Sky’s direction. It was much closer than Indi was comfortable with. “You need to call your dog back, please.”

“Sorry, Mr. Iscariot. The dog is alerting for a reason, and we intend to find out what that reason is.”

Sky sat obediently at my side, ignoring the other dog—which meant it wasn’t too close yet. Two seconds later, she was up on her feet. Low growls erupted from her throat as Indi felt her position her body between him and the other dog. So, they were really doing this.

“Call your dog off. There’s no reason for anybody to get hurt, especially your service dog.” The official said, causing Indi to laugh.

“My dog has thirty-one kills. How many does yours have?” Sure, a bit snobbish but nobody talked down to his dog.

Indi heard the swift intake of the security guard’s breath. Good, he felt threatened. “Just exactly what are you wanting to do? Search me? Search my dog? I merely need an explanation.” Indi might be blind, but he wasn’t stupid. He’d been set up. They’d been waiting on him and Sky.

“We need to search your dog. You came through the monitor cleanly.”

“And my dog didn’t?”

“Just let us do our jobs, mister.”

Fucking. Set. Up.

Did Hollister know? Oddly enough, Indi had really started liking the kid. Hated the circumstances but liked the kid.

“Sky! Sit.” Indi felt her drop down next to him. “Easy, girl. Easy,” Indi murmured softly as they spent way too long searching her. “How much longer is this going to take?” Indi asked in an irritated voice. My stomach really was beginning to feel the need to purge. “She’s clearly nothing more than a service dog and not carrying anything. You tagged us the moment we came through the line.” Indi leaned in closer and whispered, “Tell Levi I said better luck next time.”

He cleared his throat. “You’re fucking with the wrong person, kid.”

Indi laughed. “Maybe he’s fucking with the wrong person. Now, am I free to go?”

Indi felt them move back.

“I guess you are. Have a safe flight.”

“Whatever.” Indi headed straight for the bathroom where Levi had told him to leave the drugs. The asshole was playing fucking games. Indi didn’t know what kind but that didn’t matter—he hated all games. Levi was going to get his, one way or another.
