“I got you, just keep taking this dick.”

I grip my dress as he continues to take me higher. He thickens inside of me and I know he’s getting closer. I contract my muscles. “I’m so close, Daddy.”

He hisses with pleasure. “Oh yeah, you going to come all over my dick, baby?”

“Yes, please let me come.”

“What wifey wants, wifey gets. Look out at the lights and let me get the fireworks started.” He grips my hips.

The cart is filled with hushed whimpers and the sound of flesh meeting flesh. The beauty of the lighted landscape is only equaled by the pyrotechnic display happening inside of me. Unable to hold on, I fly over the edge, soaring high. I clamp down around him as he continues to thrust through it. My body shakes and a white light bursts behind my lids as I shake. In a few moments, I feel him follow me. Spent, I melt back against him as he holds me close.

Together, we watch the world go by outside. It feels so good to have something to be happy about. This year has been a tumultuous one, but things are looking up now.

Chapter Fifteen

Echo

The official reason for the gathering is a surprise party to celebrate Blue legally adopting Bolton, but behind that is a massive church meeting. Since the bombing, the cops have been keeping an eye on us, so we’ve been extra stealthy. I’ve had a don’t ask, don’t tell policy when it comes to the demise of my father. It’s been two weeks and no one’s heard anything about him. I can see it taking a toll on Charm, but he’s keeping it to himself.

The door is closed, keys sweeps the place for bugs, and we’re given the okay to begin.

“We’ve had a rough go of it over the past month,” Stone announces to the brothers. “A brother betrayed us. It’s not something we take lightly. I know blood was owed, but he came with a level of trouble I didn’t want to get into. Mouth brought Aryan Brother plants into the club. He had dreams of grandeur and turning what we’ve built here into a mockery. I wanted to slit his fucking throat, but instead I used him as a bargaining tool. I made it very clear to the AB, we’re not interested, and if they wanted to get their boys back in one piece, and keep them there, they’d better go back under whatever fucking rock they crawled out from. They took the shit happily. Especially, after they heard their boys squealing. I can’t say if they’ll retaliate. We’ll have to keep an eye out.”

I glance at Charm.

“Pres—is h-he gone?” Charm asks.

“Yeah, brother, he’s not coming back where they put him, and you know why,” Stone says.

Charm clears his throat and nods.

“This shit happening made me realize something,” Stone pauses. “We need to separate who we are now, from who we were when we first started. I want to lift the ban on African American members, and open up the prospect acceptances again. We need new blood, and everyone here deserves to feel like they belong. There are things my old man did I would’ve changed. Hell, maybe I should’ve changed earlier. But a former President’s shoes are always hard to fill.”

My jaw drops. This is it. The change I wanted to see.

“All in favor of the change in the by-laws say aye.”

A resounding Aye fills the air, and I know my brothers are behind me and mine. Charm pats my back and I can’t help but smile. This is how shit should be. I can’t wait to tell Dixie Rose. I glance across the room and meet Hoss’s gaze. The old man is beaming like the proud father he’s always been.

“I think Echo has an announcement, too,” Shadow says.

I flick him off as everyone turns to look at me. I clear my throat. “So Dixie Rose and I made it official and got hitched.”

Sounds of whoops go up in the room.

“Yeah, fuck you guys,” I say as they all laugh.

“Congrats, brother. You got a good girl there. Be sure you take care of her,” Stone says.

“I second that,” Hoss adds.

“I will,” I say.

“I’m going to hold you to it. You all know the cops are riding us hard, but the businesses we put into place are doing their job. The dispensary is making us money hand over fist, the pawn shop is steady, and we’re looking to open more. Gun running is out for a while until the heat is off. I swapped our routes out with another chapter. L.A. is still on probation. I want to say they’ll recover, but I’ll stick with an optimistic we’ll see. Big is good people. He just let his guard down and put too much trust in the wrong people. It’s the first major mistake he’s made in the past ten years. I can forgive him for it, if he turns his shit around.”

“What other businesses are you thinking about?” I ask.

Stone shrugs. “At least one more dispensary, and we’re open to ideas about others.”
