“Mmm.” She hummed her approval. He spilled into her mouth, marveling her beauty as she swallowed him down and cleaned him off with her talented tongue. She kissed his tip and leaned back on her heels. “That was fun.”
He choked a laugh. “That’s one way to put it.”
“Pants up or off?”
> “Off.” He toed off his shoes and stepped out of his pile of clothing. “Shower?”
She nodded her head and took the hand he offered her.
“I’ll get the clothes later,” he said, tugging her up.
“Okay.” She nodded her head, and they walked to the bathroom hand in hand. I can’t lose this.

“We getting fancy tonight?” Mason asked as he sprawled across her bed.
She smiled down at him. “I wasn’t planning on it, but I can if you’d like. It’s just going to be us, right?”
He nodded. “You sure you wouldn’t rather go out? I know being home for New Year’s is kind of lame.”
“I’m still recovering from the double Christmas. Trust me, this is perfect.” He held out his hand. She took it and squealed when he tugged her down to him and rolled her onto her back. “I’ve got plans for us tonight.” Her belly flipped. They were finally going to take the next step. At times it felt like they were hurtling toward the contract marriage, others it was a snail’s pace. She could drown in his expressive eyes.
“Why do you want me to dress up?”
“If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise.” He tapped her nose, and she scowled. He laughed.
“Not as fun when you’re on the other end of the surprise of it, is it, control freak?”
“Mason,” she whined.
He laughed harder, and she rolled him over, attacking his ribs. When she didn’t overthink it, this was as natural as breathing. Don’t get too used to this.
“Okay, I’ll put on something nice.”
“Thank you.” She could see how badly he wanted things to go right. She wouldn’t give him a hard time about it. It was adorable watching this side of him emerge. Her often cocky, always sure best friend had an almost bashful side to him. Who knew?
“Anything else you need me to do?”
“Yes. Stay up here and relax until I come and get you.”
Her eyes widened. What are you doing down there?
“Okay?”
“Remember, no matter what you hear you have to stay up here.”
She tilted her head up. “What am I about to hear? You constructing something?”
“Nope. But I do have little elves coming to help me make magic.”
“Color me intrigued.”
“You have enough movies and bath crap to keep you occupied. I’m going to bring you some snacks, too. We’ll eat dinner around five?”
She glanced over at the clock that read two-thirty. “Sounds good. I’ll be ready.”
