He Loves Me Not (Bunch-A-Blooms 1) - Page 23

“Oh, I like the sound of that.” She pecked his lips and unbuttoned his shirt, one tiny circle at a time. There was no rush now, only a sweet build up. She tugged the shirt from his waistband and popped the last few buttons. He shrugged it off and let it fall to the floor as she went to work on his belt and the top of his dress pants. He stilled her hands before she could tug them down.

“It’s a little uneven, don’t you think? I want to see you, too.”

“Then undress me.”

His lips twitched upward, and he grabbed her to him, working the dress up her body to reveal the black lace bra and underwear beneath. He took her dress and draped it over his jacket. His pupils dilated, and he traced her demi-cup. “You’re so beautiful.” He bent, taking her lips as he unhooked her bra. She helped him work it down her arms, groaning as her heavy breasts were freed. He palmed them and rolled the turgid peaks between his thumbs and forefingers. Arching, she whimpered as he moved on to the bed and pressed her body into the mattress. Surrounded by his warmth and scent, she wrapped her legs around him and ground up against him. His bulge stroked her soaked panties, and she wiggled, in need of more friction.

“I’m going to take care of you, baby,” he whispered as he kissed his way down her neck and sucked the skin into his mouth. “Move to the center of the bed.” She protested the loss of him as she complied and he finished undressing. The possessive gleam in his eyes made the muscles in her belly tense as he stalked toward her with the flickering candlelight painting him. His beauty stole her breath. He was lean and muscular with a spattering of blond hair on his chest and legs. His body had developed from that of a boy to a man. His chest and shoulders were broader, and he blocked out the light as he moved over her. Biting her bottom lip, he hooked his thumbs into the sides of her underwear. With a tug, he removed the final barrier between them.

There were no words as they feasted on each other’s mouth and he slid two thick fingers inside of her. He circled her walls, and she shivered in anticipation.

“You ready for me, little flower? ’Cause I can’t wait another minute.”

“I’m so ready,” she whispered.

He twined their fingers and nudged her with his broad head. She whimpered as he slid the tip in and pulled out. Her walls clung to him as he stretched her gently, teasing her with his shallow thrusts until he worked himself in and paused. She wrapped her legs around him and breathed deeply while she adjusted to his girth. She contracted, and he grunted, pulling out and pushing back inside. The beauty of the moment struck a final blow, and she completed her tumble, moving from falling to in love. Overwhelmed, she cupped his neck, pressing closer as they found a rhythm and she rediscovered her home. She ground against him, rolling her hips as he bottomed out inside of her, touching every inch off her. Her soul filled with the deep caring he’d poured into her.

“Oh, Petunia,” he moaned he buried his face in her neck when their pace grew frantic. Her body trembled, and she gripped him tight as she came. He growled, driving into her until he found his release with a grunt and a flood of warmth. He collapsed on top of her, careful to keep his weight distributed. He leaned back. “You okay, baby?”

She nodded, unable to speak around the lump in her throat. She was good and properly fucked. In more ways than one.

He rolled over and pulled the soft body closer. Last night broke him. I’m no longer playing. This is for keeps. He wouldn’t survive watching Petunia walk away a second time. Not after having the pleasure of calling her his, and entwining their lives so completely. He savored the feel of her pliant body against him as he recalled the look of wonder and passion in her brown eyes in the candlelight as they came together over and over. She was on Mirena. They’d both gotten tested after they’d agreed to the verbal marriage contract and opted to stay with what she had.

Last night, part of him had wished she wasn’t on birth control. He wanted to know what a being that was part her, part him, and made in love would look like. Does she love me? Does she know I love her?

He inhaled the tropical scent of her hair and breathed in and out. He’d never been good at this. He was out of his depth. But I have time to figure it out. He kissed her crown and slid from the bed. She’d be sore. He knew her well enough to know it’d been more than a year and they hadn’t been gentle. They’d left it too long for that. He ran the water and picked a random bath salt to add to the water. Despite her logical brain, she was a girly girl at heart. He did his business, washed his hands, and turned off the water, letting it cool as he padded out of the room and down the stairs to make two cups of coffee.

After placing the mugs on the breakfast tray, he returned to her room where she’d begun to stir under the blankets.

“Morning, sunshine,” he said.

She groaned. “I feel like I was on a bender.”

“Yeah, a di—”

“Do not even go there, it’s too early.”

He chuckled. “Open your eyes, I brought you something.”

She blinked and squinted. “Coffee.” She was a zombie reanimated as she sat up and loosed a loud moan.

He set the tray on her lap and perched on the edge of her bed. “I also ran you a bath.”

She blinked. “I thought the celebrating was over.”

“Baby, it’s never going to be over between us.”

Her head jerked to the right as she eyed him.

“Things are better when we’re together. It’s always been like that.” He shrugged, willing her to understand what he was trying to convey.

She smiled. “Seems that way, doesn’t it?” She gripped her mug and blew on the coffee before taking a sip. “Ahh, strong and just a bit sweet. Exactly how I like it.”

“I know. Not much I don’t know about you, Petunia, nor you me.”
