“Yes.”
“Why?” he asked.
“B-because I didn’t know better.”
He shook his head. “Try again.”
“Because I didn’t have to worry about it.”
“That’s right, because you knew I’d take care of you, right?”
Her eyes glistened with unshed tears. “Yes.”
“I don’t like seeing you upset. I’m not doing this to be an asshole. I’m proving a point. We work just fine. I know you aren’t the type of woman to sit around in the clubhouse waiting for me to be available. I don’t want that. But we can’t both be in charge. I’ll tell you what you need to know. But I can’t have you sticking your nose where it doesn’t belong. That’s dangerous. Look where it landed you before.”
She opened her mouth and closed it.
“You had your chance to tell me to fuck off when I asked you to be my old lady. Now you’re mine.” He brought his mouth down to hers, punishing her mouth with his harsh kiss. He bit her lip, slanted his mouth and deepened the lip lock, putting everything he felt into the war their mouths were waging. She melted against him and he wrapped his other arm around her waist, securing her curvy frame to his. He sucked her tongue into his mouth and she moaned. Surfacing for air he took in her glazed over expression and heaving breasts. He bit his way down her neck, sucking on the exposed skin until it bruised.
“Now everyone who sees you can know you’re mine. I’m a possessive man. I’m a hard man, but I’ll love you with the same intensity.”
Her head popped up and her eyes grew wide. “If I didn’t love you, I never would’ve asked you to be my old lady.”
“I love you too.”
“Everything I do when it comes to us is to keep you safe. I need you to understand that.”
She nodded. “Just don’t leave me completely in the dark.”
He took a deep breath. His woman was smart. She’d figure out the things he didn’t say. He had to give her more than the average old lady.
“I can do my best to give you what I can,” he said, bending to meet her in the middle.
“That’s all I ask.” She smoothed her hands over his chest and smiled up at him like he’d just hung the moon. “You love me?”
“Said so, didn’t I?” he asked, cupping her ass.
“Say it again.”
“I love you, girl. Are we done with this bullshit argument?”
“I think so.”
“Good. Did you get your shit sorted?”
“I told the girls and talked to my mom. She knows we’re together and while I can tell she’s not happy about it, she’ll tolerate it to keep the lines of communication open between us. I haven’t talked to my dad yet. But I figure one step at a time.”
“I don’t care how you handle it as long as they know I’m not going anywhere. I see how they twist you up. I’m not going to let that shit continue to fly,” he said.
“You won’t, will you?” she teased.
“No,” he said meeting her gaze.
“You’re serious,” she whispered.
“Taking care of you means more than keeping club business away,” he said nipping her bottom lip. “Right now you have too much tension. It’s my duty as your old man to help you relax,” he drawled.
“Oh, really?”
