Twisted Obsession (Underworld Kings)
Page 81
Instead of coming over to Black Hollow every six months, I met with Guida Venier or better known by his English name, Judah Venier, along with his father, and I offered them the option to buy my shares of the school. They accepted, and now, I'm merely a guest.
"This is one of the places that will always protect you. If you ever need help, call on the Venier's. Even though Judah is still young, he's trusted by my family." This is what I explain to Luna as we make our way up the driveway which leads to the mansion. The place is a palace, it overlooks pretty much half the island, and in the distance, the school can be seen from the windows of the house.
We exit the car once it comes to a stop, and I take Luna's hand. She looks like the queen I knew she was. Her black pants suit makes me want to hide her from hungry eyes, but I have to come to terms with the fact that my wife is a temptation.
The door to the house opens the moment we step up onto the porch. "Mr. De Rossi," Judah grins as he opens the door, holding out his hand. He's in his early twenties, but he's been in this life for a long while now. His father wanted him to take over the school because he's young enough to understand the minds of the students, but also old enough to make informed decisions.
"Cut the crap," I tell him before pulling him for a one-armed hug. "How are you?"
"Living the life." He winks playfully before his gaze lands on Luna. "I knew you married a queen, but good lord," he remarks before taking Luna's hand and pressing a kiss to her knuckles which has me on edge.
"Okay, Venier," I warn, my tone no-nonsense, but the asshole just laughs. He's a playboy, enjoying the power and intrigue that comes with being Underboss. His status is well-known around the clans, and I know he uses it to his advantage to get women into his bed.
"Mario," Judah greets my right-hand man, ignoring my jealous outburst which I can only assume will be the same as the rest of our visit. "It's good to see you. Malachi is somewhere around here," he tells Mario.
"I hope we're not intruding on your college parties," I tell Judah.
"Not at all. My father was just here, he went back to Italy this morning. It's good to have some friends visit as well. I'm sure you'll enjoy your time on the island."
"I look forward to seeing my brother," Mario says. I know he's been tense seeing Malachi again, and even though I've reassured him it will be fine, he's anxious. I don't blame him, but I wish he would trust in his brother's decisions. Even though we've given Kai as we nicknamed his brother, the choice to join the De Rossi clan, he's decided to stay at Black Hollow longer. There's nothing wrong with it, but I have a feeling Mario is going to have a tough time accepting that his brother is so far.
"Let's go," Judah says as he leads us up the stairs and down the hall. "This is your bedroom; I'll leave you to it. I need to head out and pick up a new student, but when I return, we'll have dinner."
"Thank you." I nod, shaking his hand once more before I'm left alone with Luna. She's been taking on more responsibility in the Familia, and I'm so fucking proud of her. "Here we are," I tell her.
"I love it. This is amazing," she turns to regard me with a small, shy smile. The same grin that captures my heart time and time again. "I need to speak to you about something." Her voice turns serious which makes my stomach drop.
"Is something wrong? Is it your back? Are you having—"
"Enzo," she calls my name, rushing to me and cupping my face in her soft, gentle hands. "Nothing is wrong," she says, her tone a whisper as he presses her lips to mine. Our gazes locked, and I note how utterly breathtaking she looks. "Are you ready to be Daddy Enzo?" she murmurs against my mouth and my whole world fades to just her.
