Wanting You Close (Archer & Everleigh 2) - Page 68

“It’s a really good thing you’re snipped, or last night would’ve definitely done the job a fourth time,” I say, eyeing his low-hanging boxers.

“I could get it reversed, and we could try for a boy.” He winks, climbing on the bed.

“Oh my God, get off me with that talk.” I playfully swat at him. I love our children more than anything, but after my second shop opened in Mobile last year, I’m already stretched too thin. Luckily, Archer’s been a big help with juggling duties and working less at the gym. Smith happily took the extra hours.

“Oh come on, Scarlett will be old enough to babysit in a couple of years, and then we just pawn our kids off on her.”

I laugh at his “solution” and tell him no way. Scarlett, Finn, and Luke are eleven and little hormonal pre-teens. A phase I’m definitely not looking forward to with our own. It’s a miracle Katie and Noah haven’t lost their minds yet dealing with double trouble.

Archer and I lay in bed, eating and enjoying our coffees in peace. It’ll be short-lived, but we’re taking advantage of every minute alone.

“Did you enjoy yesterday?’ he asks when we’re finished.

“Yes, of course. Didn’t you?”

“Absolutely. Best second wedding I’ve ever had.” He smirks, then rolls on top of me. “Thanks for marrying me ten years ago and again yesterday.”

“Thanks for askin’ me.” I lean up and kiss him. “It’s wild to think about everything we’ve been through the past ten years.”

“Yeah, especially considering how far we’ve come.”

“And I couldn’t imagine doing it with anyone else.”

“Hell no, baby. You’ve always been the one.”

“When did you know I was?” I ask curiously.

“That first day we met. Something inside me shifted, and my heart knew.”

I furrow my brows and slant my head. “The day after my birthday when you found a naked man on my couch?”

“Yep.” He nods. “I mean, I wanted to punch the guy in the face, but I loved how you carried yourself with that no fucks given attitude. I knew right then you’d be a good match for me and were someone who could handle all the demons I was facing.”

“As much as I love hearing that, I’m glad you left that story out of our vows.” I chuckle, just imagining Tyler’s reaction, considering how pissed he was at me that day.

“Our story will always be my favorite. It’s been a wild journey,” Archer says sweetly.

I snuggle into his chest as his arm wraps around me. “The best kind there is.”

“Couldn’t agree more.”

And they all lived happily ever after till death parted them.
