Baby For The Mountain Man - Page 67

Ignoring this attraction would prove to be more difficult than I’d thought.

“I’m in big trouble.”

I kept glancing at Chloe through the glass of my office, easily distracted from my work. From the moment she entered my office this morning, I was restless and couldn’t concentrate on my job at all.

My body had reacted immediately to her—especially since she was wearing an outfit that made her stand out. Her black pencil skirt, red low-neck blouse, which revealed her sexy bosom, and high heels looked amazing on her, although I wouldn’t mind seeing her only in those high heels.

She was definitely the hottest woman around here, and it was seriously affecting my work.

She was also highly efficient. She’d already completed almost all the tasks for today, able to understand and follow all my instructions with strict attention to detail. Chloe was in stark contrast to my previous personal assistant, who had easily managed to mess up on several occasions—quitting her job on the spur of the moment being her last fuck-up.

Highly impressed with Chloe, I’d come up with an idea. She could prove to be of high value during the local hospital tour, so it would be good to take her with me on my little trip.

“Come in,” I said.

Chloe entered my office, and my eyes shamelessly assessed her body. Luckily, she chose to turn around to close the door in that moment, so she didn’t catch my once-over.

“You asked to see me?”

I leaned into my chair, thankful that my desk was hiding my instant erection from her. I’d definitely needed some action since I reacted like a teenager in puberty next to her. It was just too bad that she wasn’t available.

I had actually been flirting with the idea of screwing her last night. I never condoned personal relationships in my hospital, drawing a strict line there. Even if some of my doctors or nurses hooked up with our coworkers, their private relationship stayed out of the hospital. I was adamant about it, so banging Chloe could lead us into catastrophe.

Tell that to my cock.

“Yes. Please sit down.”

A whiff of her perfume reached my nostrils as she sat across from me, and I discerned vanilla and peach. She smelled amazing.

Now that I had her this close, I could examine her pretty appearance better. She didn’t wear much makeup, but she didn’t need it. Her unblemished skin looked soft, and my fingers itched to travel down her silky neck and chest. Her blonde hair was made into a braid that fell over her right shoulder.

“I mentioned to you that I’m looking to expand my business.” She nodded. “I’m currently searching for a hospital to purchase, and I think I found one.”

“That’s good news.”

“Yeah. It’s several hours away from here, near my hometown.”

“Your hometown? Denver?”

I raised my eyebrows, surprised that she knew this. “Yes. How do you know about Denver?”

A faint blush covered her cheeks, her eyes downcast. “I googled a bit about you last night,” she said this quietly, her regretful face reminding me of a thief caught in the middle of his robbery. “I wanted to know you better so I’d be able to suit your every need. I’m sorry if that was invasive.”

She had researched about me? Now, that was what I called devotion.

My lips formed a smile. “No, not at all. I’m just surprised. I don’t remember having an assistant who paid attention to details to this extent. Thank you.”

She returned my smile and tucked her hair behind her ear, clearly relieved to hear my approval and not my reproach. “It’s nothing.”

I followed the curves of her pretty lips, imagining them on me for a moment. “Anyway, I need your help, so I want to tell you we’re going to look at that property together.”

“We are?”

“Yes. I hope that isn’t a problem, since this maybe comes as a late notice.”
