I reached for my underwear, but he snatched them away.

“What?” I said, confused.

“How about no undies tonight?”

I immediately felt wet again. “Brady, you make me crazy.”

“Good. Now let’s head back. Later we’ll give these guys a real show.”

I shook my head and laughed, moving back to my side of the car, my body feeling different than ever before.

“Did you ever think we’d end up here?” I asked as he started to drive.

“Having sex in my car? Yes. At least I hoped so,” he said with a wink.

“I mean together, duh!”

His expression turned serious for a moment. “Of course I did. The minute I saw you in that club, I knew we’d end up together. Forever.”

“Forever? Always confident, aren’t you?”

“Your dad wasn’t being premature. I asked him for his blessing.”

“What?” I stared at him, shocked. We had never talked about marriage before.

“It’s not happening yet, but now you know it will. You’ll be mine forever, Autumn. If you want to be, of course.”

“Of course I want that! Oh my God, Brady.” I bounced my legs, wondering when he would pop the question. I couldn’t believe this was happening, after all we’d been through.

Married to my bodyguard. The press would have a field day. We’d be splashed on every tabloid. But with the type of love we had, our smiling faces would be far from another scandal.

We had the type of love that would last forever.

CHAPTER 18

Brady

I paced around the jewelry shop. Where the hell was he? He was supposed to be here twenty minutes ago. My future best man, Dr. Max Lewis. I hadn’t seen him in a while, having my complete focus on Autumn, but that didn’t mean that our time in the Savages wasn’t important to me.

Finally he walked in, smiling as usual. That new girl of his had really changed him, for the better.

“Brady! Hey, sorry I’m late, I was on the phone with Warren, you know how rare those calls are. Had to take it.”

I shook his hand, realizing mine was already sweaty. “Of course. How is the younger Lewis?”

“He’s shitting a brick man. I’m glad we’re not over there right now. Things are rough, and couple of the new Savages are… well not us. He’s just trying to keep it together right now I think. I feel bad for him really.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, we all know about that life.” What he was saying hit close to home. I had just helped another former Savage get a security job in NYC. Poor guy lost one of his team and couldn’t keep it together anymore, not that I blamed him.

“Yeah he mentioned something about a cute reporter though.”

“Someone on base?”

“Yeah, so I guess we’ll see. Maybe he’ll be joining us in the married world soon enough.”

With that he started talking about rings and asking the clerk to pull a few things out. But my mind didn’t stop going to Warren…

The younger Lewis brother, married?
