Her Dirty Billionaires - Page 10

I knew something had been said, but I couldn’t place it because Maverick had started pressing against me, too.

Were they doing this on purpose? I didn’t even know why I had been invited, let alone cornered.

“Henley?” Maverick said.

I turned to him. “What?” I asked. Had he said something to me? I couldn’t even remember. Suddenly, the water in front of me called out like a drug. I grabbed it and took some much-needed long sips.

“Nothing. Just wondering about your broken shoe. I couldn’t imagine you would willingly wear those awful flats to an interview,” he teased. His voice was like a cool breeze over harsh rocks, making me yearn in pleasure.

My cheeks warmed. “Oh…They’ve been, um, replaced.” I swallowed hard and Maverick flashed me his familiar soft smile. I tried to return it before glancing at Jude, stunned to see him also cracking a smile my way.

With both of them so close, I didn’t know how to react. I just knew that for a business meeting, it was highly inappropriate.

But if it wasn’t a business meeting, I had no idea what it was. Nevertheless, I couldn’t deny that I liked feeling them both on me. Their proximity made my body sing.

I was very, very out of my element.

Henley looked like a temptress of the finest sorts. It was almost as if she didn’t know what that dress and her wavy hair were doing. She was going to ruin me.

Even worse, I knew she was staring at me and Jude. Perhaps our proposition wouldn’t be as far out of left field as I’d thought. I could see in the way her throat bobbed as she swallowed, the way her lips pursed, and the way she clenched her thighs together that she wanted us too.

She sipped her water nervously and I gave a wavering eye to Jude, telling him to back down for a second. The last thing I wanted was to overwhelm her.

“Henley, I understand you’re well versed in the world of corporate law,” I said, hoping to momentarily distract her.

She glanced up at me through her lashes, her gray eyes sparking like I’d just given her good news. She wanted this job badly, perhaps just as much as she wanted us.

“I studied hard in college, and had some amazing internship opportunities to help me,” she said confidently, although there was still a slight waver in her voice.

I smiled softly, looking into her eyes and trapping her with my gaze. “We saw that on your resume.” I glanced at Jude.

Her eyes flickered in his direction, and then back to me. “Yes, of course,” she said and cleared her throat.

“As you know, our company is very powerful,” I continued in a low voice.

Just then, the waiter made his way over and Jude instructed him to bring the house special.

“I think a lot of people know that,” Henley said rather bluntly.

I grinned. I liked her smart mouth. “Very well. I think you would like to see just how powerful we are.” I leaned in close enough to see the freckles over her nose and the tinge of red in her eyelashes and eyebrows.

She stared back at me, not leaning away. “How do you mean?” she asked, her pitch rising.

I held back a chuckle. She had no idea what we had in mind. I got the impression that she was the innocent type. The thought made my cock twitch against my leg—something that didn’t seem t

o have gone unnoticed based on the quick glance she gave.

“I mean that I have a lot to teach you, Henley. Jude and I both,” I said.

She gave me that same inquiring look, telling me she hadn’t cowered away yet. Then she turned slightly to Jude, who regarded her with the dark look I’d seen women succumb to many times before.

“Like…like what?” she asked. But it was clear that she now realized we weren’t talking about the company anymore.

“Corporate business. Acquisitions,” I said.
