Bile rises in my throat as he lets me up. I inch carefully away from him and closer to the passenger door.

“Get the fuck out, drive straight there, and don’t try me. I’ll be right behind you. If you so much as look at anyone to try and get help, I’ll kill you. Am I clear?”

I nod because he’s definitely clear. I’ve entered a nightmare worse than any I thought I had been living in the past.

“Good. Remember what I said. Go straight to the master bedroom, strip, and spread out for me. You’re going to give me some of that pussy tonight.”

I turn away because, if I don’t, I’m going to throw up. Revulsion fills me as a cold, clammy sweat springs out over my body. I’ve got to figure out some way to get out of this, but I don’t have the first idea how.

I’m helpless.

I get in my car, start it up, and pull out. I look in my rearview mirror and Mitch’s truck is right there. I need to get away. Maybe if I can get away, I can call and warn Katie. I can just keep driving. Heck, maybe Mitch won’t even care if he can’t find me. That sounds like as good of a plan as there is. There’s just one problem…

I have no idea how to get away.

CHAPTER 11

Mitch

I follow behind Katie’s Toyota, feeling more in control than I have in years. I’ve let this go on for too long. When Mom told me that Reed called today and he and Callie talked for a while, I lost it.

I have not put up with Callie’s bullshit for this long to lose her to my brother now. They’re threatening foreclosing on the house, and I cleaned the last of our checking account out to pay the damn electric bill and keep the lights on. Callie is a shit wife, but I’m not about to let her go. I’ve let her run wild for way too long. It’s time to start getting my house—and my wife in order.

When we come to a red light, she stops. Macon just recently got two new lights. They’re stupid, completely unneeded, but the school board said it would be safer for the buses. It’s ridiculous. Tonight, there are more cars than normal on the road. That’s probably because of the big football game and people hurrying home from work to get ready for it. I was going to go myself. I still might after I make sure Callie is secure. She really has no idea what she’s got in store. I’ve been going easy on her. That ends now. It will be a little more difficult. I’ll definitely have to hide her for a bit. I shouldn’t have hit her in the face. She drove me to it. I’ll have her call Katie tonight and tell her she’s sick and came home so I could take care of her. I’m not sure Katie is dumb enough to buy into that, but I’ll think of something.

Unable to stop myself, I let my foot off the break and inch up until I tap her car. It’s light, just enough to cause her car to jerk. I watch her neck thrust forward. She turns back to look at me, and even through the back window and the distance, I can literally see her fear. I wave at her, my lips spreading into a smile. She turns around immediately, making me laugh. My dick is hard just from this. I’m going to enjoy making my little wife heel. She’s been so easy to manipulate to this point. Getting a girl with daddy issues was a stroke of luck. The time has come to change things up, though. Honestly, I’m glad. This will be much more fun. I’m going to show her just how worthless she is.

I’m so busy thinking about the fun that’s to come that I get sloppy and another car cuts in front of me when we pass the local pizza joint. It’s annoying, but I still see Callie up ahead. My hands tighten on the steering wheel as, in my head, I plot out exactly how tonight will go. I haven’t been this satisfied since seeing Reed’s face at my wedding.

Ahead of me, I see Callie taking a left turn. I smile.

“Well, lookie there. My darling wife has a little fight left in her. You don’t know how glad I am to find that out, sweetheart,” I croon.

I thought I was hard before, but I could drive nails into concrete right now. Callie doesn’t understand how much I love the chase. She will soon. I’ll enjoy taking my time and proving it to her. As I go off onto the shoulder of the road to pass the car between us, I press my foot down to accelerate.
