Silent Night (Bad Boy Rockers 5.50) - Page 18

Callie

One extreme to another is Reece. From the moment I told him about our baby, he’s not left me alone. I mean, I’m not complaining, but he sure causes my head to spin. All of a sudden it’s as though a weight has lifted from his shoulders that I had no idea was there.

And from the minute we walked into Kix, and he spotted Robin and Leo behind the bar together, he actually waved and ushered me over to our friends.

I keep glancing at him, but he’s lost in conversation with Jack, so it’s no surprise to me when Thalia moves to sit beside me. “What’s going on with you?”

I turn to my best friend of many years, and admit, “He finally saw how stupid he was being over Robin, and now…it’s strange. Other than to acknowledge them when we arrived, he hasn’t glanced over to the bar once.”

“I noticed that.” Thalia shrugs. “I’d enjoy the peace for now.”

“I am.” I smirk.

“I don’t think I want to know how you’ve been enjoying it.”

I chuckle and nudge into Thalia. “We’ve been celebrating as well.” I slip my hand to Reece’s thigh and curl my fingers around his.

He cuts his conversation off mid-sentence and meets my gaze. “You want to go out back for a quickie?” he whispers, sounding hopeful.

“No.” I kiss him. “We have something to announce.”

“Then we can go outside.” He laughs.

I roll my eyes.

“Callie has another bun in the oven,” he blurts.

Jack and Thalia, along with me pause and stare at Reece. Jack’s the first one to recover, slapping Reece on the back. I turn to Thalia and smile at the grin on her face.

“I’m so happy for you guys.” She tugs me close and holds on to me. “You need anything, Callie, please just ask.” Pulling away, Thalia keeps hold of my hands.

“You know I will,” I admit. “It’s as though a switch has been switched with Reece. One minute he’s obsessed over Robin and Leo, and now he’s back to being my Reece again.”

“Perhaps that was what he needed to pull himself back together.” Thalia picks up her drink and after taking a long sip, admits, “Jack has a one track mind on occasion, and he can be infuriating, but as soon as I tell him how I’m feeling he always snaps out of it. Sometimes, I think he really misses the music, you know? I mean, he’s still best friends with Reece and Donovan, but I don’t know. He says he’s fine about it all, but sometimes I wonder about it.”

“Jack would tell you, Thalia. You know he would. Perhaps he’s just being a bit nostalgic with the concert coming up. I know Reece has been like that. He’s excited to be on stage again with his friends.”

I can understand why she’s worried. I have too on occasion, but I know Reece and he can’t hide anything from me. He’s happy, more so after I’ve finally had the opportunity to share my news with him.

“Hmm, I do like watching him when he’s up there though,” Thalia admits. “He’s so hot and melts my panties every time.”

“Is that so?” Jack grins like the Cheshire cat, having overheard Thalia.

She blushes. “Yeah.”

His heated gaze never leaves his wife as he walks around the table and pulls her to her feet.

I watch as he leads her onto the busy dance floor and wraps his arms around her while they slow dance.

“If you’re not going to let me drag you outside”—Reece turns and holds his hand out—“I’d like to dance with you.” He winks.

“I’d love that.” He tugs me up and into his arms.

Before we reach the dance floor, he whispers, “Do I melt your panties?”

I reach up to his ear and reply, “You probably would…if I was wearing any.”

“You don’t—”
